ECUFlash aggravates me

I'm so tired of having to patch everything, find the right patch for your ecu, make sure you have the right tactrix cable, etc.

This has got to be the most un-user-friendly tuning software I've ever used. I know it's complicated for the developers of the software but then it's like they have to push the complication on to each individual user.

For instance, whenever there's a new patch available, why can't they just release a new version of ecuflash? Also half the options in ecuflash, I have no idea what they mean and will most likely never use them.

Right now I'm trying to get my car set up on speed density with v7 and I can't even remember where I'm at as far as patches, which tune file I used last, what options, which rom I should use.

I spend about twice as much time setting everything up to where it's compatible than I do actually tuning. I just think there is tons of room for simplicity.

have a knowledgeable tuner tune the car for you... or buy a used AEM you will enjoy the way your car runs over the factory ecu

You get what you pay for I guess.

The problem is that Colby doesn't create the patches, the community does and things change daily.

And why would you assume a car would run better with AEM EMS over the stock ECU? Weigh the cost between the two options and AEM seems a bit overkill lol. Some areas now can't even get their cars inspected with AEM (like around New England) so people are straying away from aftermarket ECU's for that reason alone. For 90% of the consumers, the stock ECU is more than capable.

i agree with jack...
this thing is a open source .. there are many other cars groups like (euros) that would LOVE this overly complicated stuff for there cars..
if you cant bother with setting up xmls, ect ect then dont, pay someone to do it..... also alot of the stuff in the xmls are over kill for the avg person.. so that makes it "seem" more tedious...
yes theres room for simplicity. but then who is gonna do it for free(appreciate the free man hers already put in)? i think ecutek made flashing simplified and neat and tidy . give them a holler (o yea you have to pay ).

This. The tradeoff of not having to invest much money to be able to tune your Evo yourself is that you need to invest time instead.

Lazy and almost coming across as ungrateful @ OP.

If you don't have time and patience for ecuflash self tuning. Pay someone.

What's so difficult:
Editing XML files?
Making changes to rom in ECUFlash?
Putting files in appropriate folders?
What the various tables are?

Most of it is simple computer know how. As stated above if you can't deal just pay someone to do it for you.

We can only be so lucky to have such a great open source community here. Other performance car platforms could only dream to have the tuning/logging programs available to us.

I just started learning the tuning also. After a little timing [B]READING[B] what the patches do, and not loading the ones that I didn't need, it is one of the BEST softwares anywhere for any price. Menus are simple and easy to understand. Maybe dont jump-in over your head, slow down and try simple things first, Then post what you think.

Ok so I have rom ID 94170008. I still have my tune saved which included the immobilizer delete, injector scaling, and high oct. fuel and timing map adjustments.

So now I'm going omni 4 bar SD with gm ait, v7, and e85. So here's the steps I need to take:

-get 94171715.bin file.
-copy patches for the periphery bits from my old xml to the new v7 xml using xml editor
-change bit values to disable immobilizer
-dial in injectors for fic 2150cc
-copy fuel and timing maps in
-way to activate map sensor and ait?
-upload back to car ecu

What steps did I miss?
