Trouble getting ECU flash to connect

Last summer I bought a tatrix cable, and software (evo scan and ecu flash) from a forum member on here. Not knowing how to tune I never used the ECU flash portion just Evo Scan.

Well now I'm trying to upload my ROM and I can't get the software to connect to the ECU. After reading some other post I'm guessing I don't have the proper software version for my cable. Problem is I have zero idea what cable I have. I tried to download the newest drivers off the net but nothing has changed.

Any insight on what I might be able to do?

Car is an 06 USDM IX

My cable causes the ABS light to flash when used in a VIII, it causes the ACD light to flash on the IX. All black cable with a single wire going to the white connector. That's all I know about it.

Make sure you are using the reflash connector. It is a black connector with a power wire that connects to the OBD2 adapter.

Plug both in and it should work

I always plug both in. Does not work. I've only been able to get Evo Scan to connect.

UPDATE:

Still can not connect, had the car battery on a charger, downloaded the ecu unlocker 1.1 from AM, nothing still.

I am running Vista so I could not download .Net Frame work software that was suggested by some. (why is that software suggested anyways?)

Open the unlocker, opened ecu flash, clicked on EVO9/Eclipse Auto, get the pop of message that tells me I have not connected the obdII connector, click OK. Then get the can not connect message.

Any ideas?

Try using this version. It should have the right drivers in for your older Tactrix cable:

Well I tried this and now it tells me that it's unable to connect to the vehicle interface.

Thanks for the attempt.

God wtf is up with my set up?

In the operating system? Of course, I'm the only user and account created on the PC.

FINALLY got it to connect, and then it would not connect for the next 50 attemps. Flashed in a different rom ID from another IX and now it's working perfectly.

What version of ECUFlash did you end up using? How did you fix the problem?

It worked with 1.42 on my friends laptop and 1.35 on mine. Just how it ended up. Nothing special was used to determine which one to try.

Well after 4 days of trying to get it to connect it just out of the blue connected and we uploaded my ROM. Saved it. Tried to get back into the ECU but it would not let us. Friend of mine figured there was some weird issue with my ROM so we took the ROM from another EVO with the same ROM ID and copied my tune into that ROM. Downloaded the new ROM into my ECU and it works flawlessly now.
