This is not necessarily a direct answer, but depending what version you buy it could be more compatible than vista. Windows 7 can run virtual executables on any machine with virtualization, so it would be like running straight from XP.
So far everything I had on my xp machine I have been able to use on my new 7 machine. I have not tried any of the tuning programs as I have a netbook with xp on it. The virtualization he speaks of I believe is on 7 pro not home of any sort.

I am using Windows 7 professional 64 on my home PC for analyzing logs and I can not get write access to the Evoscan folders.
You deselect the read-only limit on any of the folders and as soon as you close the pop-up window, it defaults back to read only.
Makes it a PITA to update for other MUT channels.
