No Knock 11psi, massive knock at 15psi??

I'm after some help with my tune. I have an Airtrek which runs a 4G63T, but comes in a detuned state compared to the evos. I've swapped the TD04 for a TD05 from an Evo8 and gone big front mount replacing the top mount.

Mods so far are:

Walbro 255lph pump
Greddy Profec B Spec II
TD05 turbo with tubular manifold
HDI front mount
Sard FPR
Greddy Type RS BOV
Zeitronix ZT2 Wide band

I get a clean run, knock max is 1 on 11psi which is off the wastegate, fuel is 95 octane. Then do a run at 15psi and have massive knock, in some runs up to 30 at near 4000rpm. I've done a boost leak test and fixed a few leaks, Mil.Spec seals in the TB etc. I can't find any leaks.

Another issue which is getting worse is the car stalling on start up when cold. It use to do it every so often when I put the car in Drive (yes, its a 5 speed auto), just stall and then start it up and it would run sweet. Now its everytime its cold and just today for the first time stalled on start up without even getting it into gear. I'm assuming these could be related. I've measured the resistance on the Idle control valve, its 21 ohms against a factory spec of 28-32 ohms, but been told it would only be a problem if it had no resistance.

Timing as been taken back heaps as well.

Attached is my last log and rom

Gregsprogress6.hex

EvoScanDataLog_2010.02.08_19.57.04.csv

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Looking at your logs your at about 15ms of pulsewidth when the turbo hits at 11psi and 20ms at 15psi, so its moving a lot more air at 15psi. You are running low timng at peak boost at 11psi, like 1 degree. You are running even less at 15psi, like -1 deg. Are you doing this because the intercooler is insufficient? If so you will have to upgrade that to be able to run 15psi. The knock looks real from what I can tell. It is plenty rich.

Also this is assuming on the same log the first pull is 11psi and the second is 15psi.

The intercooler is 600x300x80, so is big enough.

Forgot to mention, ran some octane booster and knock was gone, so its real knock.

1st pull is 11psi and 2nd is 15psi.

Thats good to know on the fuel, as I wasn't aware of that. They offer 98RON in some parts of the country, but not in my area which is the main energy centre, with gas and oil exploration, and methonal plants etc, so go figure.

If your 4g63 is the same as most other evo's your timing is probably too low and causing the knock.

Its the same engine. So if timing is too low or too high, I can get knock?

I can't really make out your log too well without being able to open it in excel but If I read what someone else said right its too low.

It should open in Excel.

Ok, timing has been backed off to reduce knock, but at the time I had air leaks, so just assumed there must be more to it then the timing once the air leaks were fixed. I'll look at increasing the timing then and seeing if it makes any difference.

I've found out the stock exhaust is more restrictive then an evo one, and its been suggested to go to a big bore as that maybe causing the knock.

Its a great forum, with so much information available.

You're not seeing 2 byte load
Change Address loc'n:
33A7C from FFFF696B to FFFF6A36
33A9C from FFFF696A to FFFF6A37

My DD runs 10.8AFR for 23psi taper 20psi Up top, timing 11-12deg on RON95 in sg
15psi should b running timing of at least 14-15deg uptop at your AFR

your LTFT is +ve
check fuel filter or fuel pressure, too low.

PM me if you want to know more about Airtrek
Nobody tuned and drive more Airtrek than me in sg

Thanks for the info, will try and get 2 byte load set up tonight. Its something I haven't been able to find info on for my rom.

I have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up and off boost sits around 40psi, but goes up on boost, although I've never watched while doing a log, but would be getting over 50psi I'm sure on full boost.
