Question MBC with JDM map sensor???

Ight, i been reading how to tune boost with the JDM Map sensor. I wanted to know if you can use a MBC with it or do you need to get a EBC?

I think you're confused. You need a 3-port boost control solenoid like a GM, GRIMSPEED, Gruppe-S...etc. JDM Map is useless without a solenoid. Only thing it would be good for without it is logging boost.

Edit: The car wont run with a MBC and the JDM Map sensor... i have a Evo8

Correct. Your car still uses the MAP sensor for other things. I installed my JDM Map sensor and tried to start the car but it just stalled. Once I made the adjustments to my ROM it purred like a kitten.

i made all the changes to the xml and rom. So you can still run the JDM map sensor with a MBC, but it would be to just log boost?

correct-a-mundo. Ecu-controlled boost is fine if you have a good tuner that really knows how to dial this type of stuff in. Otherwise your simple little MBC will do the trick and it's MUCH SIMPLER. I've been down your road already and got frustrated. I tried ecu-controlled boost and had no luck but it wasn't a total waste because I love being able to log 30+psi on the JDM sensor. I ended up going back to my Hallman Pro and calling it a day.

no problem at all. the only other thing to look for is the boost control solenoid connection. You may throw a code and get a check engine light if you disconnect this. If I remember correctly you can just leave it electrically connected and just remove/cap off the vacuum lines from it and you should be good.

JDM MAP is mainly for logging log boost. It can also be used to do Psi based boost control though the stock ECU.

yea i know its for logging and can also be use for adjusting boost.

The thing is i have a MBC and i didnt want to put the JDM map sensor on and my car wouldnt run because it needed a EBC or some type of solenoid.

i think you are a bit confused. The JDM Map sensor is just a sensor that reads pressure or vacuum and conveys that to the ECU.

MBC is a manual boost control system. It is a valve that sits between a boost source and the wastegate. You set the tension of the spring in which opens at a certain pressure level and forces the wastegate to open and bleed air.

ECU controlled boost requires an input for pressure (MAP Sensor) and a solenoid in which it electronically controls the action of allowing pressure to the wastegate. This would be configured in whatever tuning method you use, typically ECUflash, along with alterations to how the ECU controls boost in stock form. This option requires some know-how and understanding of how the system works. I would advise you to continue reading popular topics in this section before even attempting to alter your ECU map.

Ight i understand now. I dont know why i was thinking the JDM map sensor would intefer with the MBC. Im just gonna use the JDM map sensor to log boost and ill tune the boost i.e. MBC... Thanks for clearing up the mayhem.
