Blue screen of death while logging/flashing

Hey guys,

I'm running Windows 7 x86 with the latest ECUFlash. I keep getting a blue screen of death DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL while logging with evoscan or while using ECUFlash. It just BSOD'd on me while flashing the ECU a few minutes ago - not cool.

Sometimes I can complete a (short) log, but it often BSOD's.

I'm a microsoft certified PC tech. I'm not seeing anything obviously wrong.

Any thoughts? I could post a crash dump if it'd be helpful. I really need to get this fixed.

Thanks,

Tommy

Does this only happen when logging/flashing? Any changes to the hardware of the PC recently?

How much ram do you have?

When I had vista, my computer would crash a lot from logging too many things or too much data with AEM or evoscan.

I recently got this issue as soon as I upgraded to Tactrix 2.0 and ECUFlash 1.42

Yeah, I'm running tactrix 2.0 and ecuflash 1.42.. I know that it's the tactrix cable drivers.

I have to run 1.42 with the 2.0 cable, right?

And it's not the laptop.. the laptop is rock solid. But, 2GB of memory. It only happens when using the tactrix 2.0 cable, either logging or flashing.

Bugger drivers seems like the culprit. x86 since I think you only have 2GB of ram?

No. I wish I had a 1.3 cable to try. Are they still for sale anywhere? I bought the 2.0 cable because I didn't think the 1.3 was available.

What's the oldest version of ECUflash that works (works well) with the 2.0 cable?

Not sure on what the oldest one you can use 2.0 with, but you can usually find the 1.3 cables on ebay/craiglist and the likes. No one nearby that has one you can borrow?

Nope, not many tuners around here to say the least.
Do you know of any previous ECUFlash versions that work with the 2.0 cable? I looked through the software's version history and couldn't figure out when it became supported. I also contacted limitless and haven't heard from them.

A week later and I receive this response from Tactrix:

Hi Tommy,

Thanks for writing in –we’re currently working on a software fix for this issue, as it is related to specific Evo8 models. We received a few Ecu’s from the community at large to do some testing on these, as the fix is not totally obvious.

We’re happy to send you an update as soon as we have more info.

Best,

Amanda

Amanda gave you some incorrect info. This is not Evo8 specific. Go download the latest beta. It uses a driver I wrote instead of the MS one that works much better / faster,

So I installed that beta. I was able to flash without an issue (would sometimes work before), however I can no longer connect to the car with Evoscan. I get error "openport2 usb cable not responding. unplug your usb cable from the pc and replug this in and retry."

I re-ran the evoscan 2.6 installer and told it to repair. No change.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Tommy
