EcuFlash reverting back xml that's not there..please help!!

So, i was dicking around trying to add some code to my 96530706 .xml. I was actually trying to add the ignition retard limit code to my xml. I kept getting a parse code error anytime i added this code to my.xml. So, i decided to play around to try and figure it out. I never saved any ROM while playing with EcuFlash, trying to make the ignition retard limit tables work. Once i was done and couldn't fix it, i decided to copy over the orginal .xml (TephraMOD-96530706-v7) that i downloaded from tehpra's v7 thread. But now, EcuFlash seems to be stuck on the old .xml and i cannot see the tables properly when i open the 96539796 ROMs. I checked and double checked and EcuFlash has the correct .xml in the rommetadata folder.

I have uninstalled EcuFlash several times to try and re-set everthing, but that's not working. It's almost like when i uninstall EcuFlash, it does not fully un-install and it seems to be stuck on the old .xml once i re-install it.

Also, i have verified, that none of my Roms were edited with the bad .xml file in place...i never saved any thing and this was verified by the modified dates of the files.

I also restarted my machine after uninstalling...and that did not work either.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

let me guess... runing windows vista? I had the EXACT same issue!!! You might wanna try DL/Installing the "REVO" un-installer program, (google it) to try and completely wipe out any files. Vista caches files, and hides them somewhere! I have yet to find out where they are being hidden, and have tried many times... And when you re-install EcuFlash, do NOT install it in the directory given, put it somewhere else like user/DL's/ecuflash, and see if that helps.

I did this, and seems to be ok... But now I just use this laptop to log, and when it comes to my "roms" I use another... SUX!

Ok....i verified that this is a software/windows vista issue, as i took all my files and installed EcuFlash on another machine and everything looks fine. No issue at all. Damnit, this is aggravating as hell!

Seems like i'm going to have to re-install windows vista in order for this to work correctly again! DAMNIT!!!

also make sure your rommdata directory points to the correct place in the options, as the program installs to c:\Prg Files\OpenECU.... but in the options it sometimes points to c:\users\...\AppData...
this might be why your not picking up the xml'x your changing

Yeah, i agree. This was the first thing i checked.

It seems to have been a windows registry issue. For anybody having problems that would require un-installing ECUFlash and re-installing it, it would be a good idea to clean the system of any install files before installing again.

I'm back in business! Damn, that was blood pressure raising.
