Getting extremely frustrated!!!

Hey Guys, ok, so I have read, read, searched, and searched some more. i have installed ecu flash 1.29, i went with this older version from word of mouth from others. Anyhow. i hooked it up and read my ecu. Now Whenever I try to pull up a map or anything for that matter it brings up a message stating " the current map description is invalid or incomplete, please edit the map description to fix the problem and the map will be viewable again." I am set to developer. When I go to try and "edit" it I notice the "address" box is not filled. What is this?? Why can I not view anything other than "init code" which is 0001?? kind of weird.... and immobilizer which is also 0001. Any helps would be greatly appreciated guys. i am at my wits end.

ur running a tephra rom, and dont have the tephra .xml in the folder. Or u recently edited your .xml, and made an error. Find the error! Definitely somethin to do w/ your .xml's...

If you havent gone thru the stickied threads and edited your own .xmls, and are just using stock .xml's, I would try EcuFlash 1.42, as the defs have been updated a bit. And everything works fine for me, and most.

Go to this link ( https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/7597107-p) ost2.htmland download the XML pack and put them in to your ecuflash directory. Everything should load up just fine after you do that.

Tactrix 1.3 wont work with ecuflash 1.42, but you can edit your maps with 1.42, and open and flash them with 1.29. That's what I've been doing, and it works just fine.

I am using a 1.42 and 1.43 beta with a Openport 1.3 without issue.
There might be some other issues here. I suggest you:
  1. Unplug the Openport cable.
  2. Un-install versions of ECUFlash.
  3. Manually delete the "C:\Program Files\OpenECU".
  4. Use some Windows registry cleaner (I use CCleaner).
  5. Reboot Windows.
  6. Plug in the Openport 1.3 cable. It should be detected but fail to load the drivers but that is okay for now.
  7. Re-install ECUFlash 1.42. At some point during the install, the drivers for the open port cable should be loaded.

As always, make backups just in case your computer coo coo for coco puffs.

Thanks ecktt, I was pondering doing this. I may just clean it all out and reinstall like you said.

I'm having issues connecting as well. I have a 1.3U Limitless cable. I have uninstalled and re-installed ecuflash 1.42. I have even un-installed evoscan 2.7. I can log with evoscan 2.7, so I tried flashing my ecu with evoscan, but then it messed up. Now my car won't start. I've turned in a trouble ticket to evoscan. I tried to pull my rom with older version of evoscan, it started but then failed. Any help would be appreciated. Here are some pics of the errors:

Have you read this thread?

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...tart-here.html

I had problems reading/flashing my ECU when I first started and it turned out my battery was a bit old and didn't have enough voltage. It started the car fine, but ECUFlash didn't like it. Charged the battery and all was OK.

did you save your orginal ROM Pegasus?
If so then flash back with that.
Also Did you use the correct read method?
Evo 7-8 have 256K rom that uses mitsukernel while evo 9 have a 512K rom that uses mitsukernelocp.
I once saw someone screw the pooch by reading a 512K mitsukernelocp as a 256K mitsukernel, some how managed to edit some tables and then wrote back the undersized rom using EVOSCAN since he was having issues with ECUFLASH. Luckily I found a stock ROM online and flashed it back using evoscan with the immobilizer set to FFFF. Some say you need to eidt ECU periphery and disable bit 3.
The car started and now can be read and written to using ECUFlash.

Yes I have the rom that was on there when I tried to flash it using evoscan. Will it even let me flash it when I can't pull the existing rom?

I couldn't get ecuflash 1.42 with tephra v7 mods to connect, so I tried to flash it using evoscan, since the car would connect to evoscan 2.7. I was using the tephra v7 rom for my vehicle dropped into evoscan 2.7 to try to flash it. It started to work but then stopped with an error code. Since then I have not be able to pull the rom no matter which ecuflash version I try. I can not get ecuflash v1.42 to work no matter what I try. I have un-installed it, re-installed it along with re-installing the cable multiple times. Even ecuflash v1.29 will not pull the rom, and I didn't have issues using that to pull it before. I just couldn't use tephra v7 mods with version 1.29. Thats why I wanted to use v1.42. I tried the unlocker but I dont quite understand how it all works. I just had the program open while I tried to pull the rom using different ecuflash versions. I have the car on a battery charger right now, but I don't think that is the issue. My battery is in my trunk, but I checked the voltage at the terminals tonight under the hood and it read 12.26v. Any more idea... Right now I'm screwed. My car won't start.
