FIC 1680 tuning notes

So I know everyone has been waiting for this for a little while, but unfortunately I have been slow getting it all compiled and posted in one spot. So normally we do LOTS of SD cars. I cant put a number on it, I am not trying to brag, but we almost never tune MAF cars anymore. I can do it way faster and get better results in shorter time than playing with the MAF.

Since this is how I tune mostly, all my maps are based this way, however I still setup the injectors the same as a MAF car. All my SD maps came from MAF maps originally that I changed the MAPVE and RPMVE for so it has a pretty close comparison for turbos of this size (HKS 7460). Since things tend to follow each other I would presume this will work on a MAF about how I have them setup as well.

Without further adieu-

So this is a 2.0L on E85 with the 1680s and a Magnus. For the most part this will work with any 2.0L on E85 regardless of the intake manifold. For the main changes for other combos here are some guidelines-

Leave the latency alone unless there is absolutely no way (and there is still generally a way).

E85 to gas- add 25% to the scaling... I.e. 975 x 1.25 = 1218

Displacement changes- 2.0 to 2.4 is 20% more displacement so normally it would be 975 * 0.80 = 780

The Magnus and most other intakes will only really be noticeable in boost so if you are using SD this the last MAPVE row to make changes. On the righthand side remember higher is richer, lower is leaner.

The numbers might look low but the power they support is real. The SD stuff has a tendency to skew the general look of the map (this one still has normal values in the main fuel map) in this regard. However just like the 2150s even though the scaling doesnt look right for the most part I havent had any problems keeping the fire fed as long as we had fuel pump for it.

Questions?

Aaron

These injectors are way awesome. I setup TalonEvo's car and got it idling in *1* try thanks to some numbers aaron and CBRE had posted elsewhere and the 975 scaling (thanks man!). This was on a fresh 2.3 build so I took out 12% so scaling was around 850(realize now math was a little off, oops). A tish high but it was enough to start it and make it around the block.

Definitely want a set for my X.

I tune a set on pump gas a month ago on a 2.4.

Scaling: 1125
latency: 12v= .840

They are pretty good on 93. Havent heard of any problems as of yet. They where pretty easy to scale on pump gas. i would definately recommend them

Did you have to modify the minimum IPW table to get these to idle on the VIII or was it okay?

Do you think the driveability on these is any better than a set of ID2000

I feel so. The 2150s arent that bad either though. I have driven 1600 low impedance on the street, 1450s, etc. that all wish they had the manners the 2150s do. The 1680s are smaller yet and any issues the 2150s might have that I dont notice on gasoline I am sure they would absorb. I have only run these on E85 so far.

What is the most HP these injectors are capable of on 43.5 bfp (E85/E98)? I know I've seen people make 800 (dynojet) on PTE 1600s on E85, but I don't know their bfp.

They should do 900+ on gas so I would suspect 700 or so at 43.5psi. Havent pushed them yet to see

I have tested both FIC1680 and FIC2150's myself on my own Evo8 with SD for Jens@FIC. 2150cc is currently in my Evo.

FIC1680cc
Scaling: 1083
Latency:
11.7188 0.84
14.0625 0.6
16.4062 0.504

FIC2150cc
Scaling: 1624
Latency:
11.7188 0.792
14.0625 0.576
16.4062 0.480

I made 700whp on E85 with BM1450cc but did run out of fuel. I had no issues with 1680 or 2150. Both injectors fired right up after dropping them in with minor scaling and latencies changes. These drive and idles very smooth. I'm another one that have not tested these with gasoline since I'm such an E85 user.

My new turbo and SMIM setup, I will see ~750+ whp with these 2150.

I wanted to share my numbers on these since it seems there isn't a whole lot of info about these on the forum. Maybe because they're fairly new or because they are so damn easy to tune!

After installing them I have no regrets about spending the extra money on these as opposed to the low impedance injectors of similar size or something smaller. Car started up and ran like a champ on the first try. As a matter of fact, they idled and drove around great with any settings I threw at them.

Car is an 05 VIII, injen intake, injen uicp/licp, fmic, tbe, walbro255, stock cams, e85

Here's what I ended up with on my setup. Thanks John Bradley for getting me in the ballpark!

FIC 1680cc
Scaling: 943
Latency:
4.69 3.312
7.03 2.112
9.38 1.776
11.72 0.792
14.06 0.720
16.41 0.672
18.68 0.456
