Tuning past MBT?

Hey guys,

So I was playing around with my tune a bit more chasing down random 1 knocks from map tracer (120 - 140 load from 3500 to 4500 rpm).

I would notice my AFR at WOT hit like 11.6 then level out to 11.9/12.0.
I leaned out those areas where it was too rich and voila, it never dips below 11.8 during WOT and then levels out at 12.0/12.1.

However the oddest damn thing happened to me.
When I was WOT in 2nd and it hit around 5500 rpms .. the car wasn't moving.

Is that a possible case of tuning past MBT or maybe my clutch is slipping?

It's fine till those high rpms but I just want to see if anyone else ever tuned past MBT and this was a similiar situation.

Thanks.

More importantly, what does your timing map look like at 5500rpm?

what do you mean not moving? you may want to post your timing map up before something bad happens to your car, e85 is wicked stuff and gives little room for error.

E85 doesnt ussually really knock. 1 count of knock with e85 can be over max timing and you could be hurting your motor pretty bad. why dont you take it back to AWD since i see they did your 93oct tune. You would have been better off doing the 93oct then the E85 tune yourself.

You can tune past MBT on E85 and do serious damage to your engine....

I don't understand what the OP means by the car wasn't moving when he hit 5500 rpm in 2nd? The RPMs stayed static in the log?

I've only seen a car stop accelerating at WOT once. The bottom end let go about 3 min later. Be careful man.

Hello everyone,

Yeah, I started pulling timing and that fixed it.
Amazing how the 93 oct timing is actually higher than my E85 timing
yet the E85 is still blasting out way more power and torque than 93 on lower timing!

Anyway, Here is where it's at right now.

Low rpm timing is WAY too high. Timing out the top should be 17-18*, 19* max.

Something like this-

This is an Evo8 with a 57 trim, 28psi, MAF, stock cams, made 474whp. Most of the run was 320 tapering to 280 out the top for reference.

1 count of knock could be a passenger farting..E85 leaves a very large margin of error and I would call it basically the opposite of everything you said.. Mabye I am misunderstanding something
I went went at least 2* past mbt on my car at almost every RPM and never noticed a drastic decrease in power. We are talking like 10-15hp max at a given rpm
