Lightbulb How much timing with 35r?

Hello guys, quick question, i have tuned 4 different evo 9's in the past 8 weeks all with hta35 turbos. Depending on other mods on the cars, each produced different hp however all ranging between 505whp to 547whp all at 30psi boost and pump gas, however each car accepted a different amount of timing at peak torque around 5400rpm before it developed some counts of knock, so i am just wondering howmuch timing you guys like to run at peak torque/load usually with a turbo of this size ON PUMP?

Thanks in advance guys!

Moosa

You will need less timing everywhere. You are increasing VE of the motor by enlarging the hotside so you should need less timing.

Im running a 18-20* up top with agt35 .82 23psi on pump 0 knock but im located at 5500ft elevation and I have gone as far as 25* with 105 octane and 26psi before running out of gas.

Everyone please note this guy is on a 2.4L motor. This kind of timing at peak torque, 32psi and pump on a 2.0 would not likely last a long time.

93+meth isn't straight pump gas, leaving that bit of information out when answering a somewhat open-ended question as posed by the OP is disingenuous as well as potentially damaging to someone looking for tuning advice.

It's been a year since I've looked at any of the maps on mine, but on straight pump 93 (no meth or anything else funny) I don't run much timing at 26psi. If we're calling ~5500 'peak' then I probably have a semi-conservative ~ 5 degrees of timing there +-, and up top I might have that run up to 9 or 10.

if it's not generating any meaningful knock, you're probably fine. I wouldn't try to fit different setups into the same hole, each car is going to tune out slightly differently.

In other words, if it runs out good and isn't a threat to sling apart, don't get hung up on numbers

Not safe info there..19 up top is alot of * you better off running e85 instead of meth..I has meth before and ahted it never liked it from day 1 but I only ran 14* up top max.The funny thing is I got rid of it at on point and made more on pump gas then meth but then again I got a better tuner.

+1 on you info!!Very true every car is different with * like mine for example it likes a bit more boost then * but I never liked to run alot of both..When tuning it has to be more of a balance of the two.
