MIVEC Timing discussion
Yeah, turning the lean spool off is still a common practice. Normally its because I dont like what the factory settings are and rather than rework the lean spool table to match, I turn it off and do it in the tune.
what I really like in LS enabled - it is temporary lean condition (or even rich - depend on AFR mapping). i.e. it is one more safety feature in stock ECU - if you go HARD and LONG (out of LS time) you go richer AFR compare to short pulls.
Secondly: I can see both arguments, but I can't decide what to do myself! I think I might keep it enabled...
what are your guys take on Mivec Tuning for cars that are heavily modded?
seems all mivec discussion pertains to bolt ons and mild cam type stuff?
I started a seperate thread without much luck, so I'm sort of cross referencing here..
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ge...questions.html
here's my Thought process on the subject..
due to mods like Cams, intake mani, turbo, larger intercooler etc..
air velocity and flow at low speeds is probably alot less as compared to the stock setup...
since boost is now coming on later as well.. (say 4.X vs the stock turbos quick spool)
so perhaps the stock mivec advance will now become TOO advanced in the 2-4kish range...
so perhaps the motor might benefit from less advance in the bottom end? to try and keep that airflow speed up a little bit?
