Mode 23 is when you read your stock rom, then make a specific change & flash it back. It will allow evoscan to read any memory address, allowing it to log a lot of information. More info on how to do it:

One way, with the wideband, Youre going to use the data output wire (blue wire if you get an AEM) and solder it to a serial port to USB Adapter (pin#2) and solder a ground wire to Pin#5. From that youll adjust the External Wideband settings in Evoscan, and your done.

Do you really need the ground? My tuner does it with just the blue cable and logs it externally just fine.. He said "I dont know why people keep saying you need the ground, i've logged 100+ aem's using just the blue cable"

Last I checked, it takes 2 wires to make an electrical connection. (i.e. positive and negative connections)

You can jump up and touch the power lines all you want. Just don't touch the ground and the power lines at the same time.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but I would rather not start a duplicate.

I am curious which contacts in the usb correspond to which pins in the serial port. Quick google search gave me alot of cat 6 to serial wiring diagrams but no usb.

If anyone has a voltmeter and a cable do you mind checking?

My thought behind asking is because someone said solder to the pins on the serial connector... it sees like a bulky connector that would also be prone to stressing the solder points due to vibration and flexing.

Couldn't you easily bypass the connector and cut out entirely since the AEM only has a signal wire rather than a serial port like the Innovate WB has. Can't you just take an old usb cable and cut off one end and solder the blue AEM WB wire to the correct wire on the usb cable and use the USB GND wire to connect to ground?

It would be kind of like hard wiring an ipod cable but instead you just pull the out from behind the dash when you need it without worrying about a connector catching on anything.
