help with tephra please!
help with tephra please!
long story short, tried getting tephra v7 to work once before, ended up screwing up my entire ecuflash program and took me 3 weeks to get it sorted out, including multiple late night phone calls across country to many members on here who were nice enough to help.
well i need help again and figured i would ask before screwing it up again. i basically need a how to on getting tephra to work for a 94170015 rom.
i have already downloaded my std 94170015 from my car, also i have downloaded the xml pack from the tephra v7 thread and the 94170715 rom from the thread as well.
i thought all i was suppose to do was save the xml pack into my c:/programs/openecu/ecuflash/rommetadata/mitsubishi/evo folder and then open the 94170715 rom, that didnt work. i then tried numerous other things without getting anywhere, so i figured i would ask and search more before screwing something up again.

and then what? i have the xml pack in the rommetadata folder for the evo, but trying to open 94170715 rom that i downloaded from the tephra page pops up the nice unknown rom error message. and opening the regular 94170015 well is still the same with no extra features like it should be. i must be dumb when it comes to this stuff
is this my problem for why its not working? when i open the xml for 94170715 in notepad all of the id adresses and scalings arent spaced and tabed like all of the other xmls.
and obviously this wasnt the problem either as i downloaded a different rom to try that the xml for looked like it should and it wouldnt open either.

dont open them just drag them in to your ecuflash folder on the bottom of the list and leave them there. then exit out of ecu flash. Then open your ecu lash icon wherever you have it and them click on the bin file for that rom that you left on the desk top. You will then see the new rom with all the parameters.
When I was having similar issues, I extracted all the files, and put them in a seperate folder. Then I opened that folder and the ecu flash rommetadata/mitsu/evo... Copied and pasted files. After that I didnt have an issue.

i finally got my tactrix cable in and wanted to have tephra setup and ready to go but for now im just going to start with the basics since obviously i still have alot to learn.
i have a couple of questions. one being if the car has a junk apexi safc 2 already on it would this affect any of the tables from reading correctly? my rom id for my specific car is 94170008. i already did the basics like saving the rom and writing down my immobilizer, but what im very concerned about is the tables and the values im getting.
the car was previously tuned via flashed ecu, by the previous owner and i dont know what the shop used to do it whether they used ecuflash or not. from what i have read the shop is a pretty decent shop, BUT, my tables seem to me to be all kinds of f****d up like they just put whatever they wanted in the cells on both the high fuel and timing maps. i also noticed that they have the rev limiter set above 8k which i know should not be that high. please tell me what you think is it safe to read and write with the safc still connected and could this be causing the wacky table values or is this just the previous tune the shop did?
