Still cannot read!!! Help!!!!

Alright, I am having difficulty reading from my ROM. This is what I'm getting:

[17:08:51.921] sending init sequence 1 (FFFF)
[17:08:55.156] sending init sequence 1 (F0F0)
[17:08:57.875] no response to any known code
[17:08:57.875] interface close

I have read the previous forums. Ive tried the following:

1. Run the car for a while then try it.
2. Uninstall the SW and then reinstall it
3. re-install the drivers
4. tried all with all USB ports.
5. Used the ECUFlash ECU Unlocker. ( started it first and then opened ECUFLASH)
6. Changed user level to Developer
7. Drove for 20 mins. and tried immediately after.
8. Checked Battery Voltage.
9. Key is in the "ON" position.

I've even tried combining some of. and still get the same results. Ive read the sticky and still nothing.
I am still a NOOB at this. The only thing I really wanted to do was turn off my P0300 misfire problem.

Here is what I Have:
-EcuFlash Version 1.42.2595
-OS Version Windows XP
-Qt Version 4.5.0
-2003 Evo 8
on the lower right corner, the identification of my cable says "Openport mitsubishi TX35RBxi"-- I did buy this cable from a local shop who was selling it used.

Questions--
1. Am I using the wrong combination of equipment for my car? I mean like cable vs. SW.
2. could I just Have the wrong settings??
3. Do I need to register?
4. Do I have to be in WiFi?? I have low signal in my garage.
5. Am I just the lucky one who happeneds to have a unlockable ECU.
6. I did Happen to buy this car slightly used (about 5k miles in 04') from a dealer... wonder if the previous owner had a tune done to it and Locked it.
7. Do I have to get the Immobiliizer code first before anything?
8. I have an auto-start with an Immobiliizer and key installed. would this interfere?%0

try reading the ECU with EvoScan. If that works it could be that the cable you have does not have a license for ECUflash.

If that is the case, then you will need to read/write with EvoScan and can still use ECUlash for all your tweaking/tuning.

cheers

Either the cable is not licensed or the reflash connector is no longer sending the 12v signal to the cable. Mine ended up being a bad cable when I had this same problem.

I was having the same problem when I downloaded the newest version of ECUflash with Windows 7. I ended up going back to my xp laptop to change it to a ROM that read with the F0F0.

I'm getting a P0300 code and thats the main reason y i need to use this. I use my OBD tool to reset the codes so it must be working...right???... There is one thing tho.. My check engine service light seems NOT to work even tho I put a new bulb in there
