man .. im 9225.. and payed express shipping.. has anyone recieved yet ?

 

I'm before #8666 and paid express shipping back then lol. If I've waiting 7 months, I'm sure I could wait a couple more days for shipping :/

Also, since then, tablet prices have become cheaper. You could get a nexus 7 now for less than the generic branded lustreless evodroid tablet...

However, i do appreciate the time Hamish has put in for developing this new product

 

thanks slix. yeah working on it right now. the usb cables I was waiting on have arrived, they weren't the full length USB cables I was expecting, sigh. I will learn to be more specific next time. they are better than nothing, I will plug them into a spare batch of right angle mini usb extension cables I already have, and plug them into the short usb to mini usb. I will check that they can provide enough signal strength and charging strength even though they are a little on the skinny side. at least they will fit up past your dashboard and windscreen easier. for a tidy fit out.

 

Say, I have now a retired Nexus7 gathering dust.. even if my order includes the tablet, can I easily swap the software over to the Google/Asus HD hotness and still use the same cabling?

 

Supposedly Hamish will release the Android software later. So, in theory yes.

That is what I am waiting for as well, since I already have a Nexus 7 as my CarPC, or should I say CarTablet, now.

 

yes, all EvoDroid7 unit orders come with an android apk file, and evoscan serial key. most people forget that not all androids come with a mini usb device port on their android unit. Buying evodroid7+cable bundle that is tried and true hardware combo is a huge plus when it comes to something as this. because there are so many things that you can get wrong when it comes to datalogging with android. for example usb cable thickness for charging mode, length of usb cable, timing of highspeed datalogging mode signals on the java runtime/cpu combo, not to mention power mode and sleep notifications are different on different android devices, as well as resolution and drawing performance differences.

 

Oh good, I shall give my Nexus7 a go as well. IIRC it has smaller dimensions and larger resolution than ED7, therefore fitting should be easier as well as cramming more info to the screen if needed.

But I'll start with ED7 and see if I need anything more out of it that N7 could help with.

 

So are we waiting on the longer proper thickness charging cable before you ship it?

 

nope, can't wait any longer, Going to ship the first batch with the mini usb extension cables I already had spare, it will work fine. The new batch of 24AWG/2C thickness special right angle usb Cables are going to take 25 days to arrive. the standard 28AWG will be ok for now. Ordered all the parts for the second batch of EvoDroid7 now. and the touchscreens portion for the 2nd batch of EvoDroid7 are now in stock. I will send an email out this afternoon confirming everyone's delivery address is still valid, and there are some that are moving houses soon, you can let me know and I will put it on hold until you are at the new address.

 

Is the first batch until order #8666?

Also, I had an optional right angle extension cable in my order. Will that affect the shipping?

 

OBDII extension cables are always in stock. not to be confused with the 1.8m right angle USB charger extension cable that comes free with the EvoDroid7.
