But did you buy it based on There is the possibility of using these cables also for reflashing, I will send out more detail on this later.

There is lots of whinging about, it doesn't do this and it doesn't do that, and can I have flashing lights when I over boost and what, it doesn't do fancy graphs for my log files?

I know we are all frustrated with the wait and Hamish is pretty much AWAL, but it never was going to be anything more than a datalogger with gauges.
Maybe in the future, who knows??
Its not wishful thinking on my part. Email conversation from Hamish himself:

Subject: Re: EvoDroid7 - Confirm Address

All information is correct. Quick question if you can spare a moment? The evoppcgps was able to flash and clear dtc codes, can the evodroid do the same?"

Response:

Yes it can do the same, the hardware can.. the software will not initially have that feature.. but I will program the new versions towards this. it is just an internet upgrade. I have already built an upgrade version system into the current software."

It makes sense that it can do it since inferior hardware was capable before. I'll just wait patiently for him to enable that feature

And to be clear. I am guilty of buying it thinking it had that ability since the older hardware did. I didn't read the features because it seemed like it was android based version of what I was using before.

I'm not tripping or being impatient. I haven't waited half as long as you guys so I'm fine with all of it. I'm sure Hamish will have time to concentrate on improving the software after he gets the majority of the units out. I also used the older hardware to monitor some of the stuff going on with my motor (temps, IDC, etc) realtime.

I can try that tomorrow. My evodroid gives error and keeps disconnecting and connecting. It seems to have something to do with speed input

I am tired of asking but is there any news on the able pinout?

This is a key piece of functionality to many of us, without it the Evodroid is just a GPS tablet that happens to do logging...

Hamish, please... how long does it take to do this?

Hamish, thanks.

I see that the webiste now has some instructions.

I have an Innovate LC1 and was planning to use the 0-5v output (analog 2) this would connect to pin 1-3 not pin 4?

Also, when the sensors are connected, where would the date be displayed - what item needs to be logged?

Thanks...

I have updated the draft evodroid page. re-print it if you have printed it off.. 5v is on pin4, and Wideband is on pin5.

I have now assembled and shipped 95% of the EvoDroid7 pre-orders. And will ship the remaining 5% over the next 4 days.

My next focus is on increasing the logging speed and more optimizations to make it easier to select your own 4 custom data items to display on the screen during logging. so you can swap and choose items to view whilst driving. to upgrade to the next versions just connect the device to wifi, and it will look for updated versions automatically.

Hamish,

Is there any way to turn the OBD connector off? On countless occasions I've had to call roadside to jump start my car because it keeps draining my battery charge. Mind you, I disconnect the cable to the tablet too.

I am now left with a dead battery which can no longer hold its charge and I'd say the product has done more damage than it's actual cost. This is a serious problem.

I started disconnecting from the OBD port each time I turn off my car and now I'm left with other issues; when connected the tablet shows constant connection/disconnection issues (ie in a split second it's connects and disconnects multiple times). I'm now either left with a dead evoscan cable or even worse, issues with the OBD port.

Please advise on what workaround there is to this power drain issue as it's started to get really frustrating and very costly.

Regards

So if we connect a wideband does this show on the display or it is only on the logs?

That's why I had asked a lot earlier in the thread how he is powering the cable, whether it's taking power from the OBD port, which is constant 12v or from the tablet.

Most OBD adapters are using the power right there at the car's OBD socket, but with a tablet setup I would imagine it could have been designed to take power from the tablet instead.

Anyway, it's obviously powered by the constant 12v from the car, so you will drain your battery as you have experienced. There are a few options that you can do, but will see what Hamish says (I forgot what the reply was way back when already).
