Unbricking evo 8 ecu

Hi,

I was uploading a tepha file to my ecu (963530706 to 96260709) then the computer crash .
[19:21:51.402] Using interface OpenPort 1.3 Universal TX2A7FR9553a3ff10c13f8dd93cdf00e4eddd22f75d41f16
[19:21:53.588] sending init sequence 1 (0001)

[19:21:56.864] sending init sequence 1 (0003)

[19:22:00.140] sending init sequence 1 (FFFF)

[19:22:02.901] no response to any known code

[19:22:02.901] interface close
I would like to know if there is a way to unbrick it?

I have tried and flash back to the old file. Also the car did not want to start.

Thanks

Did you get a blue screen irql error crash dump? Incan usually reflash right after my computer boots up after a crash from that

This right here is probably your answer. That code looks exactly like it does if the car does not have enough power to read/write to the ECU.

Thanks for the feedback. The battery was fully charged when it was flashing. My laptop decided to do a windows update/reboot when flashing the file to the ECU. Annoying as it was all going well till that happened.

But I will keep everyone posted till I find a solutoin.

Cheers.

If your computer dies during the middle of a reflash, never turn the car off. If you leave the key in the on position, you can just reboot the computer and reflash the ECU again with no ill effects.

Too late with flashing with the old ecu as I did turn off the ignition when the computer died. But anyway I had to buy another ECU and had no issue with after I reflashed it.

I'll be attempting to unbrick the unit when I have a chance (most likely making a bench test) to see if I can fix it.

Another expensive exercise but it provided some good experience with it.

Cheers

bricked ecu

Just make sure you turn off the windows update on the laptop so it doesn't happen again.

My computer turned off while I was uploading the map and ever since that happened the only way for me to make changes is to run ECU Unlocker every single time...

Make sure your 'init code' parameter is set to 0001.

Do not do this. I don't want that laptop to be another zombie comp under some bot herders control. The simple thing to do is ensure the computer is fully up to date and done its updates/reboots before going to flash the car. Same with ensuring the laptop's battery is charged etc. etc.
