Used Evo X locked ECU

Hey I have a used 2008 Evo X and I had purchased an EcuFlash connector to start changing some of the tune on it. The previous owner must have had a cobb because every time I tried to tune it said unable to locked ECU. I have spoken with a couple of other owners and the one guy even asked his tuner and said I had to bench unlock my ecu. I have tried before with a friends 12v bench power supply and I still wasn't able to do it. I may have been doing something wrong but I am sure I followed the pin diagrams and connected it accordingly to the ecm and the obd connecter for the tactrix cable. Is there anyone in the DC area that may be able to help me with this? Any help would be appreciated at this point. I keep trying once and a while but I haven't been successful.

BTW the car is usually in Silver Spring, MD but I work in Arlington, VA.

Post the ECUFlash log up. We can't diagnose this without accurate results from how you have configured everything to bench it.

Ecu wasn't un-married from the previous Cobb. Needs to be bench flashed.

I am aware of it needing to be bench flashed, as I said I was unsuccessful in communicating while attempting to bench flash. I will be bringing it to work on Monday and will take pictures of the logs then.

i had the same issue. way i fixed it is getting a new (used) cobb ap, marry it to my car and flash it back to stock. Then unmarry the ap and leave the stock map. only then my tuner was able to access the ecu to tune with ecuflash. oh then sold the ap for cash.

other option was to send in my ECU to cobb.
