Yup, I have a copy of that. I checked the solenoid already, as part of my original tear down where I cleaned out the cam, the head, the pipe, the one way check valve, and the filter housing, replacing all of the crush washers.

I have a spare solenoid, so I can always throw that in just to rule out I got a false positive in my direct 12V current test of the solenoid. It did work though.

The clicking noise I am getting under load though is not possible from the solenoid. Its definitely a metal on metal racket, that can be heard over the revving motor.

I may also try and run the car with the solenoid not installed and confirm I am getting good oil pressure there in that it should be shooting oil out of that opening. If not I can confirm an oil delivery problem.

I know the oil pump works, since I don't have an oil problem otherwise, and when I removed the banjo bolt from the turbo inlet and started the motor I had a solid stream of oil coming out.

I guess it can really only be oil insufficient pressure, or the solenoid based on my testing and troubleshooting so far. Everything else has been ruled out. I can test both solenoids on the bench and see if they behave the same way to the same power input.

I did, here is the video.

Oh, and thanks for the MIVEC definition. I guess I never did that after that giant MIVEC tuning thread surprisingly. I am a bit rusty on the MUT stuff, but let me know if this is not correct.

Sounds like the BCS solenoid is broken or perhaps that the wiring is broken somewhere.

For MIVEC, suggest logging it to see what its doing. Would seem that the only metal clanging sound could be from the MIVEC assembly banging into the cam gear.

I'll decide if there is anything left to check again while its apart today, and then re ensemble everything. I will do the same zero'd MIVEC and stock MIVEC pulls while this time logging the MIVEC just to see if that tells us anything.

I have a GrimmSpeed on the way, should be here tomorrow. I currently am setup for the Gruppe-S solenoid.

Are they the same things as far as the ECU's modified boost control system is concerned, or are there changes that need to be made in order to use the GrimmSpeed?
In general do you recommend a particular harnessed BCS over any other?

Many years ago, I bench tested all the available boost control solenoids out there, and I found that the GM BCS had the best boost control fidelity. They are affordable, and as far as I can tell, they are dead reliable. Grimmspeed was close in performance, almost a wash.
