ROM Mods for JDM Evo 7 ROM 90550001
First is to add some definitions to your ECUFlash ROM XML definition file found in:
C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo
Open the 90550001.xml file with the text/XML editor of your choice. Scroll down to the bottom of the file. Add the following lines just before the </rom> tag (copy everything *between* the ----):
----
<table name="MAP Test 1: Mid VE Max Voltage" category="MAPSensor" address="2046" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Volts16"/>
<table name="MAP Test 1: Mid VE Min Voltage" category="MAPSensor" address="2044" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Volts16"/>
<table name="MAP Test 2: Low VE Max Voltage" category="MAPSensor" address="204a" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Volts16"/>
<table name="MAP Test 3: High VE Min Voltage" category="MAPSensor" address="204e" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Volts16"/>
----
After modifying and saving the ROM xml file, launch ECUFlash, open your ROM, and find the new entries. Note that they have their own category. It may be necessary to set ECUFlash to "Developer" mode in the ECUFlash options (and relaunch ECUFlash) to be able to see the tables. Here is what needs to be changed in ECUFlash:
MAP Test 1: Mid VE High Voltage Test -- Change from 4.61 volts to 4.90 volts.
MAP Test 1: Mid VE Low Voltage Test -- Change from 0.10 volts to 0.06 volts.
MAP Test 3: High VE Voltage Test -- Change from 1.80 volts to 0.51 volts.
In ECUFlash, find the "Periphery2 (FCA) Bits" table. Change bit.9 from 1 to 0. Use the "minus" key on the keyboard. This disables the P0401 (EGR) test.

Anyone know if MrFred is still selling the 3 bar MAP sensors? I've pm'd and emailed him and have not gotten a response...I read he had them cheaper than mitsubishiparts.net.
This sensor was going for $125 "shipped" but they kept increasing the price.
Now it's over $50 more??? Ridiculous...
$152.02 + $18.24 for shipping...on something that's small & weights a few onces!

maperformance.com has them for $109 with free shipping and I found mrfred's Omni 4 bar MAP sensor ROM compatibility settings for USDM Evo 8/9 thread with all the instructions.

Some people will never go over 30psi on their setups (and I believe the JDM Map sesnor actually reads to like 32psi in actuality). The higher boost the sensor reads, the LESS resolution the sensor has so its not always a wise choise to go with a larger map sensor if its never needed.

Sorry to drag up this post, but I have this question as well. I saw some people saying "it just works, no changes necessary to log boost" and I don't know what to believe, or what is needed or if it's possible.

So I did the install a couple of weeks ago.... Ever since then I had been getting weird DTC's. Every thing from the MAP to the fuel injectors... So it turns out switching the values for ECU Periphery #2 and #4 will do this. The car ran fine and boost logged perfect. So I switched the values and no more codes are being thrown.
So my real question is what do these values do?

well guys need a llittle help here
I have a JCBanks 90550001 SD rom that works perfect with the stock evo 7
map sensor but this sensor is only 1.5 bar
used the settings above and installed the evo 9 JDM 3 bar sensor,
I am able to log boost with the 3 bar sensor and it looks accurate
but cannot get the car run with the 3 bar and SD patch
anybody got this Rom to run with the 3 bar???

Hi Barry, I had my VII running with an Omni 4 Bar. Which bit is giving you trouble? The changes to the MAP settings are fairly well documented, getting the MAP sensor VE settings should also be be fine as John set the ROM to run with that MAP sensor. I can't say the slow speed running was as smooth as the MAF, but on boost it was pretty good.

If you're talking about the MAP sensor VE and stuff like that, you don't need to make any changes to the 9653 rom. It's from a car version, like European or something, that doesn't have a MAP sensor, and it doesn't use it to make any calculations. So, basically, put whatever MAP sensor in that you want with the 9653 ROM, and the only specifics you need are what you'll put in to EvoScan to scale the data properly.
