Is there some kind of electrical connection on that valve?

Not that I can see. It seems to function just like the BOV, with the solenoid being connected to the inlet manifold to activate and to the upper intercooler hard pipe to flow air into the manifold.

I'll double check that JDM 8s can run ALS with only a software remap (ECUTEK). I know for a fact that JDM 9s can because I've heard one and it's a well known add-on to a remap in the UK.

I can't see why Evo 9s would be able to run it whilst Evo 8s can't. The SAS has been fitted to all JDM Evos since the Evo 4.

you are missing the electrical solenoid that activates the SAS valve it is like a boost solenoid it is connected to the intake manifold and the other side to the SAS valve, this is how the ECU operates the SAS valve,
its located at the back of the engine down below the intake manifold,

Ah bugger. Let me double check what I've got to see, but I didn't see any looms in the box. I'll have a word with my mechanic and see if he's got the solenoid/loom.

Definitely no solenoid/loom with the bits I got. Is the loom/solenoid something you can remove from the car without impacting on the car's ability to run?

I'll see if I can get hold of the solenoid/loom.

yep thats the one,
most dont remove it as its too hard to get at
but if someone has an old boost solenoid it will do the trick.
or for those using an aftermarket boost controller just swap the pin at the ecu from pin 11 to pin 53 and use the boost solenoid as the SAS solenoid,

Youngsyr...

It would seem then that I need to get a BCS (mine is kind of broke), and then the hardware. I have the right uppipe and header.

BarryC, I just need to pull pin 11 and repin to pin 53 then try the tables?

The USDM rom and what I thought was the correct table is in fact incorrect as far as I can tell. I will go ahead and take the hardware though and try to figure out the software while it is in transit.

Youngsyr, if you can double check with your mechanic and see if he has the harness that would be great, but apparently isnt necessary.

yep mate pin 11 is wastegate solenoid and pin 53 is SAS valve,
this is for the 4 plug ecu,
you can use the boost solenoid just swap the pins and change over the pipework
make sure one side goes to the inlet manifold and the other side to the SAS valve,
should work fine.

i think pin 11 and 53 is wrong for evo9
because it shows in ecu diagram that 11 is IGN COIL1 #1/#4 and 53 is IN CAM SENSOR

someone correct me if i´m wrong

as I said this is for the 4 plug ecu so that is evo 7 and 8
the evo 9 is a 3 plug ecu,
the evo 9 wastegate is pin 41 and SAS is pin 5
see diagram below for the 9
