I'm new to the discussion but I have some stuff to add that might clarify some "issues" (more in the new thinking than due to my intelligence)

Somebody asked about the vacuum solenoid hooked up the the FPR. I originally hooked my boost gauge up to the line between the solenoid and the FPR. upon startup, the boost gauge would only read boost, (as in 0-30 PSIG, no vacuum) then after a seemingly random amount of time, it would suddenly start reading vacuum too. Maybe Mitsu uses this solenoid to raise fuel pressure slightly to increase fuel on a cold start mechanically? I did notice that the time it took to switch over to reading vacuum was much shorter on a hot startup than on a cold one.

Also, the manifold is still going to see vacuum when the throttle is closed. This is the job of the throttle plate by definition. No worries about losing power brakes. The ALS system will keep spinning the turbo and pressurizing the tubing and I/C and all, but between throttle plate and cylinder, there WILL BE vacuum.
Hope I was helpful. If not, sorry

If you tap before the FPS you will see manifold pressures on startup, otherwise you will see 0 (the blocked output of the FPS) until the car decides to reduce fuel pressure. This makes startup easier, and the only reason the FPS exists (you want the higher fuel pressure). Most cars can have it removed without problems and this gives you the ability to use that output for something else (some other solenoid function) if you can program it in the ECU.

DSMLink cars use that line for NOS control or boost switching.

you smart guys are makeing the SAS solenoid thing to complicated, think of a standard magnetic VAC switch that uses a simple voltage input to operate, mix that with a rom patch and some repinning and presto, SAS solenoid. or am i thinking to simple?
great job though seriously guys on all the info, i have been following this thread since the begining and just only have had time to read. Good stuff!! mad props to you guys.

Not possible to set up SAS on USDM cars without major reprogramming of the ECU.

i think he meant: someone found out how to reprogam the ecu right?,

in which case...lol

and the answer is yes. SAS would be cool, but more of a show thing if you don't drag race, right?

if i got it right some of the programming is already there it just has to be finish off. and did anyone ever think about the map sensor when they working on the missing part of the program. us only has a 1bar and jdm has 3bar

It's more complicated than that.

to get SAS working on a USDM you need all the hardware (duh), this includes a secondary bypass valve and secondary BCS. The secondary BCS needs to have control inputs from the ECU. These inputs are currently used by the EGR valve as far as people have been able to determine.

so once you find the free inputs, you need to reprogram the SAS code (present in all evos I suspect, but disabled by default) to use the new inputs.

Someone on this board has figured it out. I can't find the thread now, but it's been done. Now the problem is no one can figure out how the SAS tables work... that's pretty much a black art...

There is a bunch of coding to do, but for the most part everything should already be in the ROM, you just need to enable the code.
