any update on this from Mr. Bradley or Barry C?

I have the manifold and piping along with the valve. I will have the IC pipe fabricated to enable flow to the valve/piping.

My concern is the solenoid. has anyone tried to remove the pin instead of installing the canister, solenoid and loom?

will the solenoid (if I can source one) hook directly up to a USDM intake manifold like the above pictures?

I know this is a year late, but was wondering if anyone actually went through with the install.

please let me know

Mike

I didn't hear back from Youngsyr and my replacement never got back to me about taking my spot. So I unfortunately nothing has really changed.

dang it...yea I was following this a year ago Silex. I pmed Youngsyr last night about the solenoid. Hopefully he can help out. Otherwise I will find the parts somehow...

manifold and piping on the way. (going to port manifold...might as well).

Yea I know socal redline. I will need someones help to go through this as the ecu bits and pieces I know nothing about. If redline is around might hit him up, but he is busy with school I believe.

not worried about the ECU stuff...my only concern is with the solenoid. If it is just as easy as pulling the pin, then this should be fine.

I know this is an old thread (thanks Silex)

I think I found a better pic of the canister with solenoid...
is this what is needed electrically to do it?

So thinking about what BarryC said earlier.
would it be possible to run 2 BCS one for actual boost, and the other for the SAS. Add a pin to the harness?

or would it be preferable to stick with the manual boost controller and use lets say the gruppe S 3 port BCS to actuate the system (changing the pins also needed).

I did a comparison today of an evo 7 intake manifold with my own (buddy here has a 7)
and the vacuum hose that actuates the valve is completely missing from what I can tell on the 9 manifold.

does anyone have pics of an evo 9 intake manifold (underside)?

Please let me know friends...

The back of the JDM 9 manifold is very similar to the 7, infact the only difference between the 2, are that the JDM 9 has a 3bar map sensor and MAT / IAT sensor fitted on the top of it.

As for retro fitting, we have found in the uk that the EDM 260 models also don't have the sas equipment fitted to them, and when we have fitted the EDM 260 model ecu's into cars that do have them (Evo 5/6 for example) the EDM 260 ecu has no sas control.

Therefore even if you were to get all the equipment needed to get the sas running, your USDM ecu might not beable to control it anyway

It can't control it even with a ROM swap?

Nope.

On my own car, I used an EDM 260 ecu, with a JDM 7 Rom (90550001) and also with JDM / UK FQ300 rom and it wouldn't control sas with either.

Thank you Cossie for the bad news lol.
so this means time to import a JDM or UKDM ecu right?

on the EDM car you tried this on...did it have the pin in the ECU swapped? (barryC's idea)

so the canister, solenoid, valve and piping were all put in and a no go?

Well I have been sleeping on this and think I might have an idea.

if the pin trick does work, a boost control solenoid should do the trick.
I was worried about the solenoid and what it was reading, but seeing that the solenoid is only mounted underneath the manifold gives me hope.

ah man...bad news.

Yes the wiring was swapped from pin 6 to pin 53 to activate the sas solenoid, as it was my own car that I tested it on, all i did was pull out the 7 ecu that I had been using, and plugged in the EDM 260 ecu, as I wanted to see if launch control would work on my car at the time (which it did with the correct rom, but as said, there was no sas control).

ok, more thinking time for me.

might have to import an oem ecu from uk or Japan...

saw a couple for about $150 online yesterday...no worries.

i wanna give this a try and see if the anti-lag works.

i am actually thinking of selling my SAS hardware.

despite the "issue" with the ECU...going through with it.

manifold
pipe
valve
sensor(x2)
tank
(really the tank and the sensors is really fortunate)

have all been sourced.

confident it will work...without an insane amount of difficulty.

I appreciate the good will...hopefully everything works out...
might have to source a jdm/UKDM evo 9 ecu though...

I should know in a couple weeks.

If you need an ecu, then let me know, and i'll see if I can track 1 down for you
