Need quick help on disabling patch for P0443
#18
E, I saw that thread, but I was under the impression that the Evap code of 0443 was on perfipher4. Maybe egr and evap use the same periphery2 on 8859xxxx? I'll change the EDDF to 8D89 and see how it idles. Anyone know if it causes rough idle when it's thrown?

It could...
Worth a shot... I haven't had a malfuntion on the EGR/EVAP yet so I can't tell you about idle quality with the CEL. JB may be able to answer that...
Do you have the components hooked up with the new manifold?
Cheers-

JB, your are TOO GOOD to be true. Long story short, I got the cel again after re-flash and idle, but as soon as the dash light came on, so did mine.....What you said is what happened. I changed a 2.5 to 3" transition coupler and forgot to tighten it up. I wanted to tighten the 'mid' coupler first, then got called to dinner and forgot. When I took it up to quick 2step, it crapped out, but then stopped and idled fine. A little bit of throttle and it would come back....Damn it!! Lower coupler on UICP was just barely loose. Tightened it up and got throttle back. Tony (OKIX) wanted to TnT tonight, but I've never felt quite so unprepared for it, but here we go anyway.....wish us luck and thanks a TON for the help. I owe you a big favor.

Go out and run some 10.5s and we'll call it even. I am gonna take you up on that invite to go watch the Sooners one of these days . I have one or two questions I'd like to ask but I will PM them.

JB,
Just out of curiosity, why did you say to change from EDDF to 8D89? That does disable Evap according to the periphery bits, but it also disables 1 bit labeled as EGR and 3 other bits that aren't labeled. Do you know what the other three are disabling?
For example, 9sec9 said that stock was EDDF. To just disable the Evap bit, it would be CDDF. It's easier to see when it's written out in binary:
EDDF = 1110110111011111
CDDF = 1100110111011111
8D89 = 1000110110001001

Stock should be EFDF I think Eric.
EFDF
8D89
11101111/11011111
10001101/10001001
I based it on the EDM and JDM roms that dont have the EGR/Evap anyway. I havent noticed any side effects. When I tried EDDF and CDDF I seemed to get random CEL for emission malfunctions so I surmised that periphery 2 must be for that more or less. I have experimented with them and 8D89 or 8C89 seems to work the best for keeping the CEL off.
I am not in anyway saying CDDF is wrong, but it just didnt seem to work for me so I tried something else
I am going to go test the 89DF from the EDM 88840016 Roms and see what it does. That is the stock EDM code and is halfway in between JDM and USDM so we can get an idea of what its disabling. It would seem Tom's issue wasnt really an 0443 entirely if I understand him correctly.
