Italy
Italy
OK.....SO I'm finally in Gaeta, Italy, now....And my Evo 8 didn't make it with me. So now I need to find another car to drive. I'm looking for an Evo 1, 2, or 3. Preferrably in black. I'm willing to travel to pick the car up.
Hook me up. Also, if any of you guys are in Italy, we should get a meet going.

Close...Navy.
They wouldn't ship my Evo over here because they said it "sits too low" so I had to leave it behind. I know, I know. I tried and they wouldn't listen. I'll just buy an older car over here, such as an earlier model Evo...

Make sure to post pics of all the great cars you see
What's up 90GSX-03EVO?
Hey Dude, I live in Naples and am stationed at NCTAMS. I brought my 2003 EVO over. It's kind of crazy that they told you that you couldn't bring your car, because I had no problem, and I am dropped 2 inches from stock. Anyway, you can still bring it over if you didn't ship a car, you can just do a power of attorney to your parents or someone and have them drop it off at the nearest Military shipping point and they will ship it. Talk to your nearest POV shipping place, there should be one on your base. Talk to you later. Chris.

I know. I found all this out too late, but I don't want to bring the car over here now. Like I said, USAA wants $14,480 a year to insure the thing. Right now, I'm waiting to get an Evo 2. That'll keep me company while I am here.
Also, there's a raceway down in Naples. The last time I was down there, I asked some people about it and they said you could rent it out and do test and tunes and stuff like that on it.
Once I get the Evo 2, wanna go sometime? I'll bring the video camera and we can mount it to the cars while driving around the course.
Hit me up in PM if you're interested.

Holy crap, 14 grand to insure it?? There must be a way to get a local company to insure it. I know my country has ****load of cars on US plates, most of them belong to US consulate but some are private. Ask around, 14k is rediculous, shouldn't be more than $1500.

It was like $1,300 a year for me on full coverage back in the US. Over here, you are almost guaranteed to get in a wreck once a year, because the people drive all stupid. I've been here less than 6 months and I already know enough friends that have totaled cars that I can no longer count them on one hand.
Anyway, Price quotes for insurance:
2004 Evo 8 RS ~ $14,000 a year
1994 Evo 2 GSR ~ $1,600 a year
Guess which one I'll be going with?

Just tell your girlfriend that since you're a moderator, you have to come see me in person and issue a warning to me...or something.
15-28, Rome, Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii, Assissi (sp?), Venice, Florence....I may be missing a couple cities too. 10 day tour + first and last days flying. We'll be all over the place. I've been to all these places before, but my girlfriend's never been. Should be a blast.

There is no way they are asking $14000 a year to insure your car. I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath with the USAF and I was paying $68 a month full coverage for a 1991 911 (964) carrera 4 (awd) Cabriolet, I was only 27 back then and it gets better, that was with a $50 deductible.
My ex-wife(a MSgt )wich had a Lexus LX450 SUV paid even less insurance(Geico) for her $64000 SUV.
I also had a Dodge Stealth R/T twin turbo before the Porsche, I was 26 still in UK and it was dirt cheap.
Try USAA insurance company. You should not pay more than $100 a month full coverage in Italy.
As per your car being to low, there is many lower car than a EVO RS with lowered suspension, many people bought 30plus year old Mini in the UK to bring them back to the USA and these cars were really low to the ground.
My friend SSgt Joshua brought his lowered 01 Z06 back to the USA no problem.
What is the deal there in Italy? I am really surprise of the quotes that they gave you, from my experience(living in Europe for 24plus years, that where I come from) Italy is not an exception.
I hear that Germany is a bit expensive but $14000 a year is ridiculous
