Yeah, it is pretty expensive off post, but filling up on post is the same pricing as back in the states.

This rotation is just 9 months. There aren't anymore units in Vilseck that are deploying. As for a garage, the only way to get one is if you get a house off post (living off the economy) or can find government housing off post. You have to be an E-7 or higher to be authorized to live out in the economy and receive OHA. Also, it took my car 1 1/2 months to get here. I shipped it out on Jan 1 and it arrived in Germany on Feb 14. I would recommend shipping yours out at least a month ahead of time.

I keep getting different answers on the housing and whether or not there's restrictions with rank. My sponsor just recently told me there aren't any but I have heard there are before as well. Guess I'll find out when I get over there. I'm dropping my car off next week to ship out so that is 4 weeks prior to my arrival. I don't think I care when it gets over there since I really don't plan on driving it in the winter though. I'll be on the look out for a cheap beater as soon as I get there.

From my understanding, there used to not be any restrictions but not long before I got to Germany...it was changed. I have been in Germany less than a year.

esso is garbage. if you want to use some good quality fuel, use aral. it comes completely out of pocket but its great quality. i had a friend who was tuning his mustang in mannheim and was having a lot of problems, had to keep pulling timing, but switched to aral, using the same grade and was able to push a lot more timing. i hate esso. they arent open 24/7 like aral or a lot of other gas stations. i dont know why aafes has given them so much of our business.

Yeah esso is not the best if you want to do some hard driving or tuning, but it is descent enough to drive around with. My evo averages maybe 20 miles a week in driving so Im not that worried about it. But if I was going to the ring or the dragstrip then I would def go with a different fuel.

What's a good place to start looking for a cheap beater, debating on either shipping the evo or getting something cheap for the time being. All depends on what I can find available.

What base are you going to? They have sites like:
Ramsteinyardsales.com or check bookoo locations close to your base. (These sites are closed on sundays btw)

Ship the Evo Nurburgring!

Going to Vilseck, depending on how tune goes in a few weeks I'll see about sending her over. I want to bring her over to open her up and see how she does on the ring.

Anyone selling a short block or know someone that is? Either 4g63 or 4g64.

After leaving the states in a blizzard and a 13 hour bus ride from ramstein, I finally made it to Graf/vilseck.
