In regards to the auto sounding shifts, R35 GTRs sound a bit like that I thought....

Fark, it must have been making a mental amount of power - thats probably the highest trap speed of any AWD I know of, Heat Treatments GTR did 7.53 with "only" 185mph - they have done higher trap speeds (their best is ~195 iirc) but whenever they run that kind of power it seems to not use it well enough to cut good times.

Sounds more like Spyros quit making contact, stopped returning calls, e-mails, etc..

DCT and AMT's can sound very smooth if they were calibrated correctly.

edit: This vid shows more about the car.

I asked Spryos on Facebook when this was originally brought up, here's what he said,

"Haha. He told us to built a turbo and clutch and cams. We agree at price and when we built them we aks him pay them and he told us that send them as sponsorship. Of course not."

two sides to every story I guess...

Hey let me order a pizza and after its done I'll ask for a taste test?!

Also what bars do you own, I would also like to sample your top shelf liquors.

So anyway my turbo is on the way to David, it will be there on Wednesday. Hopefully these stock frame turbos will do better than what we have already available to us, as they are more relevant to 98% of us than the 2000hp builds.

And for those of you that have the money they have that same transmission setup from that subie available for evo. If any of you actually dealt with the company or Spyros directly you guys would see that they are nice people. Granted they should stick to certain specialties and not try to make everything under the moon, but I guess it has worked for them so far so more power to them right??

So if this turbo ends up being the same or less in terms of the power put out compared to a FP Black or Red or BBK-BB, what then?

Will people bash DB for skewing the test, or can we all then agree that this has been an exercise in great marketing hype.

And conversely if it makes a believer out of DB then the only bad that can be said is turn around time for parts and the quality of some of their stuff?!

khmerpimpin they use Speed tech motorsports dog box equipment.. and ive driven in a evo with that same hardware.. there is no way in hell you can get it to ghost shift that smooth as in that video..

that sti in that video i can almost guarantee you is not a regular dog box and its more auto. watch the video again and again.. you will hear the tone.. its not hard to tell the difference from something thats auto vs something thats manual.

so unless the ecu is shifting that manual transmission by itself, im gonna say its automatic. (which would make it auto if hes not doing anything manually right?)

its definitely not ghost shifting that i can tell you for sure.. it sounds way to smooth to be the ghost shifter setup.

and it looks like they used a trans brake to me off the line. regardless the car sounds smooth as hell.. i just think its to smooth to be a manual.

i dont think that should be compared to a GTR.. GTR's have $20,000 transmissions stock. its a whole different league when comparing car to car.

The one I have is actually more comparable (wheel sizes) to the FP Green, so if it made the same power as the aforementioned turbos then that would be great.

Looking at that video's ending. It has to be horrible working in a Subaru boxer engine!

that and the gearing. a 5 speed case would explode at half the power and a 6 speed would be in 3rd gear by the 60' line.

some things are easier and some are harder. no b.s. t case to deal with and the motor is facing the right way.
