Built 2.0L + FP Black + E85 Results...

Guys

I have owned this evo for roughly a month now. I picked the car up from the previous owner with a nice observation window in the front AND back of the block. Almost everything on the engine was destroyed, so I picked up a built block setup from a member on here, and changed the setup a little to get some more power out of it.

After getting the kinks squared away, and learning ECU Flash over the last few weeks, I headed to a good sized Evo meet in Kansas City, and put the car on the dyno @ MKC Performance.

Details of the setup are:

2.0L
Manley I-beam Rods
9:1 JE Pistons
Deleted Balance Shafts
ARP L19 headstuds
Stock Head
Kelford 272/272 Cams
Supertech Dual Springs
Ported Intake Mani/TB/Exhaust Mani
FP Black unported w/25psi spring
Buschur 3" Vband TBE
FIC 1450's on stock rail & FPR
Buschur Double Pumper
E85
Buschur Race FMIC
ACT HD6
Forge Unos MBC, Unos BOV recirc'd
SpoolinUp used COP
Shep T-case
ECUFlash w/Tephra V7 9653 Rom

I had spent some time putting a rough WOT tune on the car. I was real conservative on timing and it was rather rich. I told him to just make a full pull on the first pass and this is what we came out with....

1st Pull - 26psi - My baseline

I let chad step in and he went to work smoothing everything out. 13 pulls later we ended up with this

13th Pull - 36psi - MKC Performance Tune

The boost was falling off around 2psi by redline, im going to assume due to the MBC. We also noticed the cone filter I was using was pretty dirty on the inside, so we removed it for the higher boost pulls and gained a good amount of power.

We tried going with more boost but it would seemed the setup is choked beyond this boost level. This gets real apparent at 7,000 RPM when you can see a drastic dip in the HP. I have a feeling the unported turbine housing and stock head are the biggest contributing factors.

I have a few friends that got video so I will post those up when they come in.....

*EDIT - Video

Here's the 606 pull....

Might just be a boost leak killing your top end power

Well I boost leak tested it up to about 25psi at my house before I left, however I'm not sure how you go about testing for leaks above that threshold....

With better clamps and a compressor.

I use a small lowes compressor and simply use the built in regulator to boost up to the desired pressure for testing pin hole leaks. Make sure you didn't loose a hose in the back of that manifold like i did off the old EGR lines. The stupid things tend to come off when you go to 30+ psi.

Having the unported housing might have something to do with it as well at that high of boost pressure. Great seeing it run!

Its a ***** sealing off the lines that run to the valve cover. I've been plugging them with bolts/zip ties and it likes to leak above 20-25....

Yeah it definitely is that's why i just clamp directly to the turbo inlet or if the compressor housing leaks clamp to the LICP.

I changed the scaling on the graphs and re-uploaded the photos so that the torque/hp scales are the same but for some reason its still caching the old graphs.......

Well I think we found a good sized problem tonight.

On the dyno we noticed it had developed a small exhaust leak, upon further inspection I found the manifold to turbo bolts had loosened up......I tightened them back up and it sealed up the leak......

However, I noticed after the drive home and in the garage it sounded like the leak was back, hoewver the bolts were tight. I said fuggit and pulled the turbo off....found this...

I have a spare in the basement, will be replacing shortly....
