fp black BR 2.3 29psi E85 (round #2)

Instead of bumping my old thread I figured I would just start a new one to show you guys the results of my 2nd BR 2.3L motor. So far it has 20 miles on it and its still being broken in with non synthetic 20w50 oil. I knew the car felt abnormally strong for running off wastegate, so I decided to log pulls and sure as hell its cracking almost 600whp at wastegate pressure. (My boost controller is completely turned off)

Here are the results:

Also keep in mind, this tune is being ran right off the wastegate. The hallman pro is installed, but turned all the way to the left so whatever you see after 25psi is simply boost creep.

This car was built and tuned by me. I did all the work myself, except for mounting the transmission. I needed my dads help with that since its a bit on the heavy side.

This is still with maf (gutted)

Major mods:

BR 2.3L stage 3 longblock
BR Race FMIC
BR Double Pump
FIC 2150
Kelford 272
FP Black ported
MAP rev3 intake manifold
Hallman Pro
ARP L19

etc..

Heres pic of bay..

And heres 2 pulls. 19* uptop and 3* at peak. 11.6 afr~ (need to tweak to 11.8-12) to save gas mileage. Overall I did around 10 pulls, all ranged from 580 to 600, so it is consistent.

Spoolup tweaking:

heres a video to show these virtual dyno programs are no bull****: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwyQSS9APMw

Special thanks to the following vendors for assisting me on this build; Buschur Racing, Forced Performance, Maperformance, Kiggly Racing, VR-Speed, and whoever I missed sorry.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

that is very strong. what happened to the first motor? what psi are you targeting to run after the motor is broken in?

I think im keeping it low, but remember this isnt even 30psi its wastegate pressure creeping to 29 lol!

First motor had a issue on a long trip 1000+ miles . Was my first race motor so I didnt know how important checking oil was on race motors. First motor was also broken in pretty crappy also. Probably try 33psi and see how it likes that. No point in turning this one up to 40 like the last one if its gonna make crazy power at low boost! Might just set the controller to 30 and be done with it also, i haven't decided yet.

Ya im shocked. I knew right away tho that something felt abnormally strong for wastegate pressure, David built one hell of a shortblock. I think because I had already had a good tune + ran it right after i fired it up without issues that the motor broke in perfect. The first compression test showed 150 across with just 10-15 miles on the motor. that is 10-15psi more then the other motor has ever did. I think break in has a major impact on how a motor performs overall. Last time I broke the motor in with below 9.5 afr and misread that I had to stay in gear on short bursts of accel to let the car slow itself down.. live and learn.

Nice!!!

Just curious but is boost creep a big issue for you? I'm dealing with it now and it's a nightmare.

Ussually its not. My other setup would spike then tapper off. The problem was holding boost. I suspect its trying to creep now because the turbo is way in its efficiency range and has no trouble flowing at this rate. What exactly is yours doing and what turbo do you have?

I have the black as well, fp intake tial bov, shearer 02 dump, grimmspeed, speed density, ported and coated stock manifold as well as qtp cutout.

Boost just creeps in the higher rpm's like there is no ceiling. Trying to figure things out at this point.
