2001 EVO 7 + oldschool fp green + 98 RON

Been working on this evo 7 for a customer for awhile and we recently finished it up. Id say there was around 30 rom edits or more because he changed his mods quite a bit during the tuning process after he felt power i was giving him and wanted more and more. Plus this car is a freak with timing and im a very cautious tuner, so it took awhile adding 1deg at a time and watching the torque go up and up.

A bit about this car:

Vehicle: 2001 Evo 7 GSR
Fuel 98 RON (equiv to US 92-93oct)
Location: Australia (currently summer time)
Boost & Turbo: Oldschool Fp green @ 27psi tapper to 23psi

Mods:
Stock Engine
FP Green Turbo (1st gen non-HTA version)
PPI extreme ported exhaust mani
Invidia O2 housing
TurboXS exhaust and highflow cat
HKS 272 cams
PE 700cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump
Innovate LC-1
Grimmspeed 3 port (ECU Boost Control)
Omni 4bar MAP sensor
Buschur pod filter with cold air intake and airbox
Greddy intercooler/piping kit
Tephra v7 converted

Results:

UPDATE: (Leaned it out a bit uptop and hit 400whp! (2000ft above sea level)

This is my car and Tom has done an awesome job of getting the best out of my setup. The car absolutely hammers now compared to before we started, yet it's so smooth and linear as well. Couldn't be happier!

I'll post more details about Tom's services in the tuning review section, as the amount of work he put in to this was way above my expectations - especially considering I'm on the other side of the world with time zone differences etc.

For now, here's a comparison of the AFRs and boost before and after Tom's tune

Very solid numbers and impressive for an FP GREEN with HKS cams no GSC o Kelford.

Keep up the good work!

Well done Tom, congrats Chris.
I took this car for a spin prior to Tom sorting it out, and it was a pretty decent car then.
The power band is pretty heavy hitting from 4-7 with the mods it has too.

tscomp ftw.

Yes I think the HKS cams hold it back a bit. I'd love to put some GSC S2's in it at some point

Thanks Mike. It is actually about 92-93octane fuel and 2000ft above sea level so i believe that makes this car around 450-460whp in usa at sea level? correct me if im wrong.

FP black is to much for his evo 7 motor. I'm pretty sure the older evos have weaker rods. (its an 2001)

the owner of this evo 7 showed me pictures of various evo rods and they were all different looking between each year almost.. thinner and etc.

He said a guy on aussie forum blew his evo 7 and he showed evo 8 rods beside evo 7 rods and they looked very different (weaker / thinner etc)
