Professional Awesome Time Attack Evo 2.2L GTX3582R 162mm Rods 4Pistons Racing Head

Hello all!
I wanted to update you with revisions we made to our time attack engine package. We've swapped from a stock Evo VII head to a 4Pistons Racing CNC Ported Evo IX head and the difference is amazing. The plots below are 30PSI for the new one, 32PSI for the old plot. We added 6 mph to our top speed at Buttonwillow Raceway with substantially increased downforce and drag. Here's the link to our thread on the previous setup.

Cylinder Head
-4Pistons CNC ported
-Kelford KVS63-BTK High Pressure Beehive Spring, Titanium retainer kit
-Kelford TX280 R Cams degree'd with a Fidanza cam sprocket
-Manley Stock Size Inlet Valves, +1 Exhaust Valves

Block
-4G64
-Manley Billet 94mm Crank
-Manley 162mm Rods
-Manley 10.5:1 compression pistons
-Modified with oil squirters
-ACL Bearings
-ARP 625+ Head Studs

Turbo/Intake Setup
-Garrett GTX3852R Twin Scroll T4 1.06A/R
-MA Performance Custom Manifold
-Turbosmart Wastegates
-ETS Custom Intercooler
-MA Performance Rev3 Intake Manifold
-Full Blown Throttle Body

Fueling/Computer
-AEM Infinity 6
-FIC 2150CC
-E85
-Dual AEM E85 Fuel Pumps in Radium Surge Tank
-Single AEM E85 Lift Pump
-Turbosmart FPR2000 Fuel Pressure Regulator
-Zietronix Ethanol Content Analyzer

Looks great. What is it about the IX head that made a difference? Is this your time attack tune?

I should have pointed out that we made approx 50 more hp on about 2 PSI less boost. I am sure MIVEC was a help in making the powerband more broad, but I would wager most of the changes comes from the CNC port.

This was the tune we used for 2 time attack events, in fact we turned the boost up past this for our final session at Super Lap Battle last week. The engine has been flawless so far with this setup, though we plan on tweaking the tune in the future.

Great powerband. Any thoughts on whether that power level could sustain multiple laps?

Depending on the cooling system, yes. We ran this setting over two days about 3-5 laps per session for about 10 total session without a single issue. The cooling system is quite unique though with a Davies Craig EWP 150 water pump, no thermostat and a rear radiator.

Around 70 degrees F, we probably could have run 10 laps in a row without issue.

results look great and spool is impressive. I run the same turbo and turbine housing on my IX, but 2L.

Uncle Tony base tune. Had to tweak a few things here and there... When he tuned it there was a ring seal issue that was later fixed. All gravy now!

That's one of the quickest spooling gt35 frame I've seen. Congrats.

super fast spool! and really flat tq curve. thats a 800whp capable turbo.

the spool has remained largely unchanged between heads. I would assume the 9 head is not being run with mivec but with 8 cams?

It is indeed MIVEC. What would make you think otherwise? Thanks for the kind words!

Again, great results. If you don't mind sharing I was curious at what RPM you make 27psi in 3rd gear. I ask because I am curious how this compares to the spool on my setup. Mine makes 27.4psi @ 4351rpm on 93oct, but based on your graph I would say you are somewhere around 4Krpm.

240. this size turbo spools about 400 rpm faster on e85?
raw. mivec spools this size turbo about 300rpm faster. you made three changes. porting, mivec, mivec cams. always difficult to pinpoint what did what.

Mivec usually gains you a few hundred rpm quicker boost threshold.
