Help to make 400HP

Hey guys I'm from New Zealand and fairly new to this forum posting as this is my first post after ages of just reading around. I've owned an EVO 6 (376HP) which I had built for a good 6 months before moving on to a near new stock EVO 7. I've finally come to the point of doing some mods to my EVO 7 the goal is to make around 400HP I know the title says "Help to make 400HP" but I'm not too entirely fussed as I desire a responsive streetable EVO

Mods to go in:

-Ported exhaust manifold
-EVO 9 turbo with a TD06 22g billet wheel
-Aftermarket Intercooler and pipes
-JM fab 3" intake pipe
-K and N pod filter
-HSK BOV
-Full 3" HKS exhaust
-Xforce Dump pipe (ported)
-GM 3 port
-Walbro fuel pump
-1000cc injectors
-NGK Plug leads power cable

I know cams will be a good upgrade in getting my goal but at this stage I'm looking to stay away from opening up my engine as the car has done low Kms (61,000) so this can wait for the next build. Any help will be good such as who to tune and whatever I can do to get the extra HP.

Your help will be highly appreciated

I wouldn't consider cams opening up your engine. It's an easy swap. RRE has a DIY on Youtube.

A good set of mild cams will really help. GSC S1's or similar. Also what brand intercooler? Cheap knockoff/no name intercoolers can really hurt output..

I've looked into purchasing an ETS intercooler and short route pipe kit. I'll have to look into GSC S1's and find out the price etc. as they don't seem to have them here, Kelfords are the big brand here. Appreciate the help!

Kelfords are good too!!! I would go 274's though. IMHO it's a waste to go with 264's for the time involved and I'm pretty sure they're the same price.

264 cams are not a waste. On a stock turbo, or small upgrade, they will provide good gains without needing to do valve springs, smoother idle, and better drivability.

Very true! I shouldn't say it's a waste. Nothing is a waste over stock. Actually stock isn't bad either.

Your reasons are the same reasons I recommend the 274 over the 280's. You can do 274 without aftermarket valve springs, but have to keep the rev limit below 8K rpm. That goes for S1's too. However, I've seen 264 and 274 revved over 8K on stock springs. I don't recommend it.

Idle on S2's or Kelford's 274 idle amazingly smooth or lopey depending on what you want. I can even get 280's pretty smooth, but nothing like the S1's. I can't get the S1's to lope that much.

OP, I think you can't go wrong with S1's or S2's or Kelfords. Do some research and consider doing valve springs, ARP head studs and a new head gasket. This is just one man's opinion. Take everyone's into consideration and make your choice. Most of us on here have a lot of experience and will try to give you good advice. GL.

Thanks for your opinion guys! I had Kelford 272s in my old evo 6 I loved the lump of them and yeah they did perform well. But I've heard good things about GSC cams both S1 and S2 and I've been eager to get some. I'll most likely upgrade to the S2 once I move on to a bigger turbo set up along side valve springs and studs. The feedbacks helpful guys!

I noticed you had Christian Tune your car, How was he? I've heard good things about him and have kept contact with him.
