Need Forum Help w/Power Dip on Dyno Graph, Evo IX, BBK Full + Bolt Ons

Initially the thought was my COP was not functioning correctly, I went to Matt at SpoolinUp and he hooked me up with brand news coils, unfortunately the problem didn't go away.

Additionally, I've seen my knock sensor flash (TephraMod) at Partially open throttle in 4th gear for no reason I can think of.

I'm a little worried.

Any ideas?

If you log knock in that area it would definitely explain the dip.
Look at the timing map for a change in timing in that area. If it goes flat you can see power fall off, if it advances too fast you'll get knock and less timing thus making a dip.
Also check the plug gap. You can usually hear spark blowout though it does show up on a dyno graph like that.

You said you replaced coils, did you try replacing plugs and gapping them to .020"?

I'm pretty sure Moore did all of that stuff when they tuned it.

Anyone have any out-of-the box type ideas?

Looks like it is knocking up top so you'll need to see what your timing and MIVEC are doing.

forgot to mention using Tephra dual maps, those are two tunes, max power for fun on the street and super conservative for the track.

the fact that it's happening with the conservative tune indicates it's not a knock issue.

The fact that it appears on both tunes means it's consistent and doesn't rule out the "conservative" tune at all. It could be both tunes but we won't know if you don't investigate our suggestions.

It rules out timing as the issue, i think, not knock.

In the best case perhaps I'm getting phantom knock from something. worst case what AdamAndEvo is saying :-\

sucks. need to get tose logs. this weekend, will do.

pretty wierd. while knock-induced timing reduction might be able to explain the drop, i don't think knock sum drops fast enough after knock disappears to allow timing to recover fast enough to bring the power back up. in addition, the amount of timing reduction needed to drop power that much will cause a boost increase (like anti-lag), so considering that boost is following a smooth trajectory, i'm wondering if its something really unusual. maybe some unintentional fuel cut, i.e., hitting a load limit? has the power drop been verified with seat-of-pants runs on the street?

or perhaps your intake cam sensor is starting to fail. best i can tell is that failure is inevitable.

could be as simple as the RPM pickup acting weird at that RPM... but log the car to see what it actually going on.
