Not that I could tell, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I was already used to driving my Evo with the rear seat and all of my trunk liners removed, plus I have a solid-mounted rear diff, balance shaft delete, test pipe, etc. (in other words, it was already fairly uncivilized).

I took all the sound deadening tar out 2 winters ago. To me, the car was just slightly louder inside. I could only tell because it's my car, my gf has never said anything about it being louder/bothering her. Hell, between the exhaust & whatnot, she rides in my car for 5 mins & passes out anyway, haha. My car is full interior too, trunk panels, everything. Furthest trip I've done in the car is around 9 hrs down to NC for the Force-Fed even last fall & it didn't bother me at all. I will be installing BR side diff supports with poly bushings next week, so well see how much louder that makes it inside the car.

Mine’s titanium 80 mm catback exhaust w/ hardware (2 springs) – 11.52 lb.

Also, I built a 3" turndown out of cheap aluminized steel piping, with an O2 bung. It's only 18 1/2" from flange to tip, and it still weighs 4.22 lb. Make one out of aluminum and it'll save some serious weigh though (if it doesn't melt).
I was talking about the turbo back exhaust not just the cat back. So I get rid of the downpipe, test pipe, and cat back and replace it with a 2' exhaust. I will try to toss everything on a scale for a person, not sure how accurate that will be and see what the difference is. I still hold that it will cut 30lbs out of the car.

We fired the car last night with the exhaust on, and it was not much louder than my car with a 3" turbo back. So if it is way to loud for me, I will switch to a 12" muffler.

Pics coming soon.

Oops, my bad, I misread. With ditching the additional piping in front of the catback, you will probably cut out 30 pounds or more.

In case it helps:

OEM Evo 9 O2 housing (56 mm ID outlet) – 6.77 lb.
Megan Racing stainless steel O2 housing (63 mm ID outlet) – 3.23 lb.
Megan Racing 3” downpipe for Evo 9 (part # SSDP-MLE05) – 8.63 lb.
OEM Evo 9 catalytic convertor – 11.74 lb.
MIL.SPEC 3” high flow, 100-cell count substrate cat – 5.26 lb.
eBay generic 3” stainless steel test pipe – 3.06 lb.

Total weight savings for me was 32lbs doing the front exhaust.

Only cost about 200 bucks in parts and welding.

Short exhaust was 8.4 lbs.

1 CNC Downpipe flange - brother did out of 3/8 SS
2 3" 90* mandrel bends from ace stainless - had from previous build
1 Magnaflow muffler 14159 Race Series - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o01_s01_i00
1 6" 3" SS tube
1 3ft 3/8" round stock ss

Ability to cut and weld, and you are good to go.

Ok I have a question for you weight experts. I'm addressing a few low hanging fruit items (not Ti prop rods) and I'm reading this entire thread. I've made it to page 10 and a question that was posed on page 6 or 7 has not been answered yet...

Rear Door Crash Braces/Beams... TrinaBabe states that by removing the crash beams in the inside of the two rear doors in her Evo 8 resulted in a reduction of 25 pounds. However JB suggests that the Evo 9 has aluminum door braces/beams... he asks it as a question... not necessarily a statement.

So my question is... do Evo 9's have a steel crash brace/beam in the rear doors? Is it any different than the 8's? I figure before I tear apart my door card, gut the components, and make it to the steel bits...it would be easier to ask first.

Thanks in advance.
