Speaker Sizes?

Since there are no EVO audio forums I thought I would post this up in here. Can some please tell me what size speakers will fit in the stock locations on the evo?

Please fill in the following:

Standard Stereo Set Up:

Front Doors =
Front Tweeter =
Rear Deck =

Sun / Sound / Leather Stereo Set Up:

Front Doors =
Front Tweeter =
Rear Deck =
Sub=

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

The speakers are 6.5's all around. There is no different in speaker sizes for the SSL evos. I don't know why you want to know the sub size? I think it's 8". If you buy aftermarket tweeters you will not be able to fit them in the a-pillar like oem since the tweeter on aftermarket equipment is deeper.

No, 6.5 fit the best all around. I just read this and found out that some tweeters will fit in the a-pillar.

Ok if the tweeter depth is 1" or less I think you will be fine. I am getting these soon http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...hp?comp_id=120 for the front and these for the rear http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...hp?comp_id=119 and they will be powered with this http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=254

The front and rear speakers are oversized 6.5" (including SSL). However, I have heard of even oversized 6.5" speakers being too small to fit.

^ most good install places can use brackets to help fitment. I've never had a problem with Eclipse 6.5'' on my 03.

Yes, the a-pillar cover snapped right over top of it.

M3this,

I redid the audio as one of my first mods. Replaced all stock speakers, head unit, and added an amp.

I ended up running MB Quart RSD-216 (components) in the front and MB Quart RWE-160 in the rear.

Some install notes:

- I ordered 6.5" and they were too small and need 'custom' mounting brackets
- The tweeters were 1" and were perfect fitment
- Redid all the speaker wire and it was a PITA to string the wire through the boot between the door and the frame
- The stock tweeters were torqued very tight to the brackets
- Changing the head units was the easiest part of the install
- Mounted Amp to the wall of the trunk instead of the floor to save space
- Opted against a separate sub band pass box/bazooka tube due to weight and space

Good luck!
