How to secure 10" sub box in trunk
How to secure 10" sub box in trunk
Hey everyone. I just had a 10" sub w/box installed today. It sounds great but I want to secure it so when/if I take a hard corner it will stay still. The shop offered to attach it more permanently but it would have cost another $60 or so. What are some of the (cheap and easy) things you guys have done?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Same problem here..That thin paperlike board will not be strong enough, I had used the l brackes on one side but they kept bending..I was thinkinking of using a heavy duty latch type system but havent found any suitable hardware yet..I'd like to have something strong enough for just one latch on one side since I want to keep the drilling into the box at a minimum..
I used a ratchet strap tie down i had lying around.. Went from one side of my rear seat bracket to the other and caught the top of the box ... You can rock the whole car by pushing on the side but box doesnt move.. No drilling required into the box..
wat i did was cut a piece of plywood into 2 in pieces, and covered it with matching carpet, and put it on the edge of the box, in my case the front and the rite side, and drilled into the floor, works great
cut a 15" x 34" piece of 3/4" MDF. Remove the trunk carpet and spare tire cover. Place it on the trunk floor resting up against the back seat. Drill it down into the trunk floor. Cut the spare tire cover so that it fits from that MDF board to the edge closest to the trunk latch. Place trunk carpet back. Remove speaker from box. Position speaker box in desired location and from inside the box, drill into the floor. Make sure screws are long enough to penetrate both the box and into the MDF sheet. 1 1/2" screws should do it. Screw speaker back in and you are done without have any visible L brackets showing.

I used a couple of hinged safety hasps, and screwed the hinged section into the trunk floor near the seatbacks. This kept the box securely planted and allowed me to lock it down so it'd be a major ***** to steal.
