As I have a RS, I didn't want to add a lot of weight to the car, but still have a listenable system. I went with the following setup:

- Diamond Audio D362 speakers in the front doors
- Nakamichi CD-300 HU - a clear, detailed presentation and display colors that match the dash lights
- JBL GTS 100X amp that fits in the glove box
- RAAMmat Butyl-based sound deadening in the front doors to keep the sound inside the car (2 layers)

Thanks! That is exactly what I was shooting for! I didn't want a trunk full of fiberglass so I took it "Old School". I also drive pretty hard so I needed it to stay put no matter what I was doing with the car! It's all bolted in and is solid as a rock! I listen to all kinds of music so sound quality came first. I'm very happy with it.

Speakers: MB Quart Q-series 6.5" components front and rear
Amp: Precision Power DCX-480 running components

No sub, didn't want to add the weight and the MB Quarts hit pretty hard by themselves

JBL Amp

I like your setup.

I checked the AMP at the JBL site, has not been made since 1998 according to their info.

Where did you get the AMP? Do you know of any good similar sized amps?

Seems like all of the current amps are huge and made extra large to look impressive, I would like something that I could stash like you did.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

This is the only amp I could find that fit into the glovebox. It's still a pretty tight fit. One of the guys on elitecaraudio.com pointed me in its direction:

http://imezak.stores.yahoo.net/gts100x.html

Shipping is a bit on the expensive side, but the overall cost is still very reasonable. Good luck.

I don't think you're going to be able to put 1000 12" subs in any car But seriously though I've never heard of pr used anything made by "performance techiniques".

Have you checked out the new Alpine amps? They are tiny and pack a big punch too.

I just had a look. The smallest measures (WxHxD): 10-1/8" x 7-9/16" x 2-7/16"

That's still a touch too big, unless one is wiling to do a little cutting in the glovebox. The issue is in the height. Given the sloped surface inside the glovebox, a 6.5" height is the max, and that's without using an amp rack. With an amp rack, the amp has to be even shorter. It may be possible to fit a slightly taller amp if its connections are on the sides and if it's thinner than normal. I'm not sure such an animal exists.
