I see this is your first post here....just letting you know to use the search feature to try to find simple things like this out b4 just posting a new thread......Anyhow, yes there are proximity alarms on some higher end systems. Some (correct me if i'm wrong) use doppler type radar within your car, say for convertibles, to detect an intruder.....

yes viper has one also. It has other cool features too. If you leave your windows down and someone reaches in the car it will go off

I have a Clifford on my s2000 and I love it. The motion sensor is excellent and is great to have if you leave your windows, or in my case top down, a lot.

I had a 508D installed in my car (two at one time actually. I have an SUV so I figured I'd try two since the back of the car wasn't covered well) and it seemed to false a lot. I think it might have been because of my tint, but I never figured it out and I just unplugged it. It's still sitting there though. Look into compatibility with tints if you plan on getting one...

Yeah, I adjusted it like crazy and it still falsed. Maybe I have too many accessories on the alarm and it wasn't getting enough power. I gave up on it because I live in a safe enough area that I don't have to worry about it (knock on wood). Anyway, my windows are dark enough now that you can't see anything in the back if you peek in, and that's what the prox sensor was for: to catch peekers

it also a dual stage sensor, 1st stage is warning and 2nd stage is full blown alarming.
