Looking for the Headlight relay wire
I was reading about the SWS system and decided that it would be need to take advantage of the 30 second power window/3 min headlight relay. This is all in an effort to create a way for the radio to stay on when your car is off!
I will be doing a writeup for this, but the basic Idea was to use a diode on both the stock *turn on* wire for the stereo, and a wire added off of the wire that powers the headlight relay after you turn your car off. This way you could still have the stock ACC function turn on the stereo, as well as keep it on until you opened the door (or 3 mins).
The logic for both circuits works like this:
When car is shut off, continue sending power until:
-Timer expires (30s for windows, 3min for headlights)
-A front door is opened
So, I'm wondering if this idea seems feasible to you guys since people always complain that the radio doesn't stay on in the evo. I would like that feature and I think it would be a great addition.
If, in the worst case, the relays are actuated by ground I don't think it would be terribly hard to set up a second relay to take power from the stereo constant power, switch it with the ground signal, and feed that to the power on wire for the radio.
To make this work I need to know if:
1. The relays on our car for headlight/windows are switched by ground or power
2. An easily tappable location near the radio for one of the output wires that switches the relays.
3. If there is anything else that should be done to insulate the signals from eachother.
Anybody wanna help out? I promise credit in the write-up
*note: There is a 30 min for dome... but that seems excessive and would also turn the radio on at other inopportune times. It also has a fade feature which could much things up.
