Factory Keyless Problem
Factory Keyless Problem
I have the factory alarm. My remote started not to work so i figured that it was the remote that broke. I went to the dealer and have the remote tested with their RF tester, and it tested fine. So I figured that the problem will be with the keyless system in the car. My question is where to look for problems i.e. fuses etc. I know that there ETACS-ECU that controls this, is there a way to test it without going to the dealer? Thanks in advance
Code another remote to it? Do the door locks work with the switches? If there's a fuse for it, your manual should tell you where. I'm not near mine, or I'd look it up for you.
i could not program another remote, on program mode it does not lock/unlock upon pressing the lock button 3 times. The central lock works, and the alarm works with just locking the car from the driver side control. I have to look at the manual and find the fuse location for it. Do you know which fuse to look for?
Check your battery in your transmitter yet? The factory RF tester will test presence of a signal, but your battery can still be weak. You mentioned that you tried to program another remote? How many remotes did you try in total? I'm assuming that you know the procedure to get the ETACS into programming mode. I've seen bad transmitters, and very seldom a bad ETACS-ECU. If you have time, pm me what you've done so far, and your procedure to get into programming mode. Thanks.
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. Had to use my resources to make sure I don't give you any bum advice. I have run into this before on another car, and couldn't remember exactly what car it was and what I've done to repair it. Looking back, it was an 04 Lancer and no RKE transmitters could be programmed. I ended up replacing the ETACS-ECU and it solved the problem. Although the ETACS is different, the 04 Lancer uses the same transmitters (Omron) as our Evo's and the operation is basically the same. Are there any aftermarket accessories installed in your car that might be interfering with the signal? Are you certain that your transmitters are all functioning properly? Do you have the correct transmitters? Omron transmitters A, B and C are interchangeable with each other, but Denso and CodeAlarm transmitters are not compatible with the Evo. So, what to do?
If you have access to another Mitsubishi vehicle that uses the same transmitters, take your transmitters and try to program them to the vehicle. This is the quickest way to eliminate the possibility that your transmitters are at fault. At the same time, take the working transmitters from the other vehicle, and see if they program into your vehicle. If you determine that your original transmitters are functioning, then you are looking at an ETACS-ECU problem... Do this, and please let me know what you find. As I mentioned, ETACS problems are not common, but possible.

i just went to the dealer today, they had to program using their scantool, and it worked. had to pay 70 to reprogram. I went on programming mode using the guide here on evom, but i couldnt program it. I guess i was just doing something wrong.
