Is there anyone out there that has ran new speaker wire through the doors from an amp....I CANNOT GET the speaker wire through there, I have tried a hanger. How do I do this?????


PLEASE I AM ALMOST FINISHED INSTALLING ALL MY AUDIO STUFF

I installed some components last month. I removed the rubber boot from the cutout in the door and fed it back into the door side. Then after feeding wire from body to door I taped the wire to the old wire loom and slid the rubber boot back to its original spot. Sorry hard to explain but you might get a few ideas.

 

Hanger worked fine for me.

remove speaker, fish hanger into door into cabin- pull through wire.

 

Do you mean the rubber "elbow" that goes from the door to the cabin or the rubber piece from INSIDE THE DOOR??

Just looked back at your time of post, my patience is very thin by that time.

 

This is easy compared to molex connections. I'm already assuming you have the door panel off and speaker removed.

1.Just pull back the rubber boot on both sides. ( door and frame). This is still on the clump of wires though, don't cut it off.

2.To run wires through the frame side, start by removing plastic panels to actually see what you are doing.

3. Run the coat hangar, fiberglass pole, or my favorite Grommet poker through a reasonable size hole.

4. Tape the wires to the rod or coat hangar and pull through car frame side. (use duck tape or lots of electrical tape to secure wires to hangar or pole) Or just slide wire through grommet poker.

5. Repeat process through actual door rubber boot (be careful not to poke any wires or you might have electrical gremlins)

6. Repeat process again only through the door.

7. pull to length and cut

8. reattach door boot, panels, speaker etc.

 

i just removed the rubber boot from both sides, i just stretched the boot a bit with my hand, and slid the speaker wires through. Like everyone else says a hanger should work just fine.

 

is the rubber boot easy to put back in? thats my only concern, its kinda tough to get off and im afraid that I wont be able to get it back on if i take it off? Sorry for being a wuss but I have never done anything like this before.

Dont be a wuss. Pull the boot and you will be home free

 

If you have a long thin piece of plastic (a big zip tie would work) you can fish that from one end, through the boot and into the car. Then just tape your wire (with electrical or another good tape) to the end of the zip tie and carefully pull it through.
The zip tie would make it flexable to go through the boot without removing it and I found it to be a little more forgiving than a coat hanger when trying to manipulate through the boot.

 

Its easy to put the boot back in. Yimke is on the money.

 

A lil WD-40 helps too. Spray it on your hanger or whatever

 

I used a pen, just took off ink tube, and cap. poke the wire through. was a pain !!!
