Removal of top part of dash

Im wanting to know if anyone has or knows how to remove the top section of the dash.
I want to have it re-trimmed in suede to give it a look similar too a porsche/ferrari.
I also need to know how to disable the passenger air bag if anyone knows that too.

cheers

You can not remove the "pad" fom the actual dash even though it looks like you can.

I have done this to a wrecked Evo.

The only way is to take the entire dash out.

It's quite the process. Basically there's no way to detail how to do it, due to the number of screws and bolts you run into.

Simply stated: Take everything off the dash you can. Radio, Trays, Buttons, Gauge Cluster, etc.

Then remove every single screw and bolt you find that is attached to the dash.

Once you get the entire plastic dash assembly out, you can flip it over and remove about 20 more screws which hold the top cover on.

You can remove the dash pad I have done it on my 04 VIII. The problem is you have take the entire dash out of the car first. I had mine painted and it took myself and my friend about two hours for removal its really not that bad, just a ton of screws to remove and time consumeing! However the results where very good!! Hope this helps pm me with any specific questions!!

Sounds like a bit of work but at least it is do-able. Thanks everyone

edit: jmcevo1, was it harder or easier to get it back in?

Is the airbag going to blow on me if i start undoing the dash or can I just make sure the fuse is removed or disconnect the battery?
