Top dash removal

I was wondering are you able to take the top part of the dash off? I know I would have to disconnect the battery so the passenger airbag wont deploy. If there is anyone that could let me know this because it will make things easier for me to work on it.

Is it a pain in the ***?

Thanks,
TK

Airbag? I'm pretty sure for your airbag to deploy you need to be in a frontal impact (sensor is somewhere behind the bumper).

You can activate it by tripping it. It's been done in other vehicles. My first one at that. Anyway enough criticism. Please don't post unless it's a little information on helping removing the top dash

Never heard of such nonsense. Also, if you have never heard of it on here it's because it's never been done. The dash doesn't require instructions to remove and is pretty straight forward for anyone slightly mechanically inclined. Enough info?

Nope that's why I'm asking because I've never done it on the evo. I can sit her and say it's a bunch of clips and 3 screws in the front but I don't know if I'm right that's why Im asking.

You need to remove the entire dash to remove the upper pad.
I takes about 30-45 min.

Taking out the dash is just screws and clips...So just look everything over and keep a tab on the screws you take out and where they go...Take pictures if you have to...Not hard just time consuming.

Its truly time consuming if you are a meticulous person like myself. It really isn't that hard, I will be doing the same thing to cut a hole in the top of the dash to do a triple gauge pod mount. I'm cutting the top of it in order to place the gauge pods semi-receded into the top of the dash. I want it to be flush instead of laying right on top. Anyway, GL

Its not bad to do. disconnect battery and the unplug the conncetor for the airbag behind the glove box. If you are going to be that far in the dash I would recomend checking to make sure your heater controls move freely since that would be the time to fix them if not.
