Evo 8 stock alarm question

Hello,

Just bought my 2005 evo 8 - noticed when locking the keyless entry it flashes the turn signals, but never beeps.

Someone then told me there is an option to reprogram the alarm to include the beep, is this true?

Unfourtunatley i do not have the owners manual, but have been looking into picking one up.

Any info would be great,
Thanks

Are you hitting the lock button once or twice? Some cars don't beep/honk only pressing the lock button twice. Usually on the second press in a row will make the car beep/honk

its not an alarm system on the car. Its just a keyless entry system. The lights flashing or horn honk is just really reassurance that its locked. Its not going to start making noises if you were to break a window or anything. The first thing i did on my car was have a Viper alarm put it. Now you can even just go buy it and use the wiring diagrams on the forums to wire it yourself! good luck

i think to reprogram it to beep you have to push down the lock key six times and then some other combination of lock and unlock. mess around with it and see what happens that's how i figured it ot a while back

Any recommendation on alarm brand? Is it true that remote start requires the vehicle be in neutral and parked level?
I always leave my evo in gear and i park on an incline (however, i have a speed bump type bump that would stop the veh from rolling back if the ebreak were to fail)

I have no idea how to install either remote start or the alm itself, thus would probably take it to a shop for it.

That looks pretty decent, Ill see what an install would cost

Leaving it in gear would cause a major problem with remote start. Not meant for stick shift cars but they do make an override kit to do it. If you are in the habit of leaving it in gear it's not a good idea though. Just food for thought.

Yeah i can see the potential for problems leaving it in gear, if I were to get auto start I would simply stop leaving it in gear, and i only forsee using remote start at home where it would be safe to leave it in neutral, and perhaps to let the car sit (make shift turbotimer)

When I first got my car it normally beep when I locked it with the keyless entry and one day I held the lock button for about 5+ sec. and it started doing what urs is doing right now(side markers blink but didnt beep.) I just reversed the process(held the lock button for about 5-10 sec) and it went back to normal. You can try that and see if it works..

Viper alarms I think are very reasonably priced, and youll find installers almost everywhere. They can usually install almost anywhere for around $150.

Kind of bummed, found this

http://www.frys.com/product/6271540?...ics%20Pod:Pod3

Seems pretty good for 150... They would install for 100, but they refuse to install the remote start if the vehicle is not automatic... I wonder how hard it would be to have them install the alarm, and then I try
and figure out how to install the remote start...

*called em back, they will install it for 100$ and the turbo timer feature for 30.. I dont really need the remote start, and the turbotimer would be nice to have.... I am trying to research this alarm has anyone heard anything good or bad about it?

So I bought it via phone, was going to have it installed but the second employee said he would not do the turbo timer at all since it is part of the remote start system. I canceled the deal and will look into getting it installed somewhere else
