OMG. Where to start? Do yourself a favor and buy a package or a product line that is meant for marine audio. They will be much more durable in that environment and are specifically made for what you want. That will take all the guess work out of it. Or you could just piece stuff together without knowing what you are doing and end up with something less than adequate. FJF I'm not bashing you as I can tell you have some audio knowledge but this guy would be better of letting somebody do ALL the work in piecing this system together. You're right it would take quite a large post to even begin to explain what's what in mobile audio. OP, JL Audio has some pretty nice marine stuff. Also just google marine audio system and I'm sure you could come across a nice package that will keep things easy and simple.

I must say I was not being negative at all and I'm sorry I came across that way. I was trying to be very matter of fact. Mobile audio is a huge can of worms and if one does not have at least a moderate amount of knowledge about it there's no sense in even getting into the details.

Example: New guy comes on here and says "I want a fast Evo and I saw this set of cams that's good for 500hp. Is that each cam or together?

By this I am trying to illustrate that even starting to explain the answer to that would involve such a prerequisite of information by the OP that it would be best just to give him/her some direction on where to learn more or find someone that could walk him/her through the entire process.

I personally would not attempt to buy pistons, rods, a crankshaft and a block and think I am gonna build a solid stroker motor. I don't know how to build an engine but I know people who do and I trust so I would just have them do it.

Which brings me to the advice I gave you. I was trying to lead you in a direction of finding something that would do what you want and last a long time without dragging out the details. If you so choose to use car audio parts just be aware that they don't have to get wet to be affected by the moisture. It will be cheaper just expect that you might end up with issues down the road. Similar to someone getting a bunch of parts off ebay (not that you are that type of person) and expecting them to last forever. You just take that chance if that's the road you choose. This is all from personal experience. If I were you I might check to see if you could find something quality on the used market or maybe just some of the system. What I would do if I were in your shoes is buy a good boom box that is water resistant and save up the cash for a complete quality system down the road. Who knows. Maybe the boom box might be enough after all? Hopefully I haven't wasted my time here.

No worries!!!
