Amp+Mini Batt= Good Idea or bad?
Im not into the whole car Audio thing so please dont beat me up!
I recently bought a double din Pioneer deck off of crutchfield. For an extra 100 bucks they threw in a 12 inch sub and a Amp. I figured I would get it and Give it to my brother as his upcoming birthday gift. Now I found out that the little bastard already bought himself one of those infinity powered subs.
Since he wont be needing it, I was thinking maybe keeping it for myself. Getting a small ported box, attach the amp to the back and wire everything up with quick connects so i can remove it when I dont want it there.
Now heres the issue that I think might give me some problems. I have a Mini battery setup so I wont want to F*ck up the battery by adding this amp. Does anyone run an Amp with a mini battery? good idea or bad idea? I attached the link below of the amp that came with my setup.

Sorry, I havent checked this since i posted it.
Its the AMS Mini Battery setup. And yes I will be running the it on a basic 4 Ohm setup, not bridged or anything.
Like I said im still not 100% sure if im going to put it in. Still debating about it. Ill make up my mind in the next week or so. If I do, I'll post up the pics. Appreciate the help Gents!

Looking at the mod list in your sig, your Evo isn't exactly a faint daisy. The odds of the sub being felt over the car at speed are slim. If it were me, I wouldn't bother with just a sub, unless your speakers sound very lean. Even then, you'd still be better off deadening/sealing the doors. Best of luck with whatever you choose.
I hve an oddyssey small battery and I'm planning on trying it out in the next few weeks. I've seen people with the small oddyssey batteries and amps and subs all the time.
I would put the sub in rather than sound deadening the doors. On race day, you can take the sub out, whereas sound deadening is there, unless you plan for 4+ hours before the race and want to take the deadening out (not practical).

Deadening/sealing the doors. You realize that any car speakers is designed to work in an infinite baffle and that one doesn't really exists until the doors are sealed, right? Clearly, you can't be talking about a car that produces as much low frequency energy on its own as an Evo, either, as one listen to a sub at speed would show in immediate fallacy in that notion. Add an aftermarket exhaust/ cams/ turbo and you might as well forget it's there. Posting advice is great and all that. Let's make it applicable to an Evolution.
I see what you're saying, and it all makes complete sense. I was just saying that I've done sound deadening and subs and amps before. The sound deadening works awesome, but I still prefer to have a sub in the car.
Now this wasn't on an evo, i've done this on my DD's and my 2.3l talon (kinda the same thing).
Let me know if I'm missing something here, but that is my personal prefrence, and yes you can run an amp off some of the mini batteries, depending on which you have.

I understand that the sealing is the biggest advantage to installing something like dynamat, and what an infinate baffle is.
I'm not saying that it doesnt help a ton, just not as much as a sub to me. That's from what I've seen in evo's.
What we're talking about has nothing directly to do with what the OP was talking about. If you want to teach me something that I'm missing, please PM me.
Thanks,
Josh

This is a technical forum and folks come here for help. They base their decisions on the advice they receive, so we try to make sure that advice is accurate and fully applicable. You don't even seem to know what is being discussed.
OP's title:
Amp+Mini Batt= Good Idea or bad?
It wasn't:
Amp+Sealing the doors+sub or a combo of both= Good Idea or bad?
I answered the question in post #6, and so did you. That's what he was looking for, nothing about sealing/deadening the doors, which is what you brought up.
All in all, both a sub and sealing the doors are a good idea, but that's not what he was asking....
