I have had a viper smart start on my car for a year now with no issues to date. The remote start, alarm and everything work flawlessly. It is nice to get texts, or alarms if something is wrong and they are sent right to your phone.

Either a crappy alarm or crappy install.

I had remote start and I think thats what messes up the whole thing because it goes through the ignition...all I can say is that it was a major PITA for me especially the past few weeks.

I'm sure that the installer or maybe a faulty alarm system is at fault here. Many evo owners, including myself, have alarms on their cars and have seen none of the symptoms you mentioned. Alarm systems do not interfere with standard ecu operations.

That could be true...all I know is, my car has never been better and it starts at the first try...like it should...after taking the alarm off.

Btw the same guys that installed it took it off....you think they would have told me if the installed something wrong or would they keep quiet about it?

My alarm system is wired through the ignition too for the immobilizer. Although it doesn't have a starter. Its most likely a bad install man.

There's probably something with evo's that involves wiring differently than most cars that they don't know about. To be honest with you, I don't think they would tell you if the install was wrong in an effort to preserve their credibility lol.

No, nothing special has to be done. Following the install guide is all you have to do. He had to have had a loose/bad connection and was not installed right.

And I agree. If they did something wrong they would not tell you haha...damn crooks.

No, there is not. Why would you think that there was?

A base lancer and a Evo have the same wiring in regards to a remote start and alarm
