VIII Wing re clear help.

My clear on my wing has yellowed a bit on top and the bottom corners have chipped away all of the clear coat down to the cf in 2 spots.

I took my wing into my bodyshop that i have good luck with and they quoted me 100 to sand down and re clear it.

I dropped it off and they started work on it. They started to sand down a little area to see how it would go and they are scared the carbon fiber will chip away and it will wreck the wing. What should I tell them to try as i have no experience with painting??

I have read that you need to go vary slow and work your way to 2000 grit with a sanding block to get the surface even. Also that you dont want to create heat so do not use a electric sander. Anything else I should consiter telling them.? I'm almost temped to try and do it myself.

If you sand/scuff/scratch the carbon fiber weave it will mess it up. Be very careful. I had mine done and it is better looking but not very good.

I hope your shop is better than the one I used.

Good luck

Thats what im scared about. I would rather leave it than have them make it look ****ty. I think ill have them sand it down a little bit and reclear it before they get to the cf. Idk

Any good shop should easily be able to make it look like new again, I had my trunk and wing redone and it came out great

I might have to do mine myself. My body shop did not want to attempt it. Instead, he just wanted to paint it black.
