Installed Greddy Type-S BOV, have a question.

Car runs great, holds boost great, idles great, all in all, car runs perfect.

I just have a question about the lower vacuum port. Should I cap it off or leave it open?

Mine is capped off, but I took out the cap, and nothing changed at all.

I bought mine used, and sometimes when at idle a whisle sound is coming off from the intake.

Anybody here experiencing the same situation? Also when you go 1st and 2nd and you left off sometimes you can hear a faint whisling sound.

Is that normal???

I think you got the BOV on too soft. Try tighten it a bit.

If you don't attach the lower nipple to a boost source like your upper IC pipe, the nipple should be left open.

No air will leak or enter through the nipple to your IC pipe. It is just an entry into a sealed chamber to help push the valve up and open the valve. If you cap the nipple, it will have a harder time expelling the little amount of air that is in there when it blows off. Hope this made some sense. If not, I will find the an old link on a DSM forum that explains and shows autocad drawings of the Type-S.

Eric

Here is one of the images from that thread to give you an idea:

I'm not sure if you have to be a member to view. If so, join, and this should answer every question about the type-s you ever had.

On a side note, from my personal experience, put some sort of thread sealant on the bolt that you use to adjust the BOV. I tested mine before with a Mityvac hand pump and it leaked at 10psi...after I sealed the threads, it held over 30, no problem.

Did you install it right? if not don't expect to hear anything. If you did install it right, then just try to loosen it up a bit. Well to the point where you can here it of course. good luck!!!

JUst leave it open its really for high horse power cars, Its to help push the valve open but you will never need it like that. And do not VTA your cars mas air reads off of that, who care if its loud, as long as it holds right?? go stealth.
